Texas Quilt!!!

So you might recall, last year I shared a bunch of Texas Monthly Tutorials for my good friends at Stitchin' Heaven :)  Well, I am excited to say that the quilt top that I finished back in December was not added to the marathon list and is finished and actually already gifted!!!  So fun ;)

I just loved working on this quilt!!!  Each month brought new blocks and new techniques.   And I totally increased my paper piecing skills, which I am so very happy about ;)  I also did some 3-d piecing which I hadn't done before, and I always love some basic piecing and applique.  All around, just so fun to make!!!

And who doesn't just love all of this happy Grunge Fabric!!!   Grunge has been a favorite of mine for a long time, but making an entire quilt of grunge, that was so awesome :)  I just love how it all came together with such happy bright colors.  It just makes me smile!!!

And a big shout out to Barbara, who is the reason this quilt top didn't get added to the Marathon list ;)  Barbara was kind enough to quilt and bind this for me, and then we sent it off to her sister in Texas.  So happy to have it done, and loved in it's new home :)

And now, I am working on the Boho Quilt with Stitchin' Heaven and am looking forward to another year filled with lots of blocks and learning new techniques again.  I have to figure out English Paper Piecing for this one :)  Should be fun!!!

Cascading - HQM Quilt 19

It is Week 19 of the Happy Quilting Marathon and l am excited to share this fun finish!!!   As soon as I finished the Nature Walk quilt I shared earlier this week, I just knew I wanted to use of my scraps to make another quilt.  And I just loved the Color Patch Cascade Pattern by Fancy That Design House, but I wanted to use all of her beautiful panels, so I took Stephanie's patchwork idea, grouped the colors and added in 3 more panels to make Cascading!!!

Isn't that just so fun!!!!   I am so, so, so in love with this Slow Stroll Fabric by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics.  I mean, how can I not just love it with those yummy shades of purple.  But I just love this vibrant take on fall, just gorgeous!!!    And it looks so fun with the cascade of colors ;)

And no, I don't have a pattern for this.  It is just my take on Stephanie's beautiful Color Patch Cascade Pattern.  I just love that all 5 panels are so happy in this quilt. Stephanie's artistry is truly amazing!!!      My quilt finishes at 72" x 88" so it is going to be perfect to layout under a tree and watch the leaves fall ;)

When it came time to quilt it, you know I just can't pass up patchwork gridlines.   So yup, echoed wavy orange peel for the win!!!   And I love the way it looks on the panels as well.  It really just adds so much yummy texture!!!     And again, shocking but true, this is not 402 thread, it is actually 403 So Fine, which is a little more brown than 402 and really looks great on all of these autumn colors.

And now this Cascading quilt is ready to loved!!!  I just know this will be the perfect gift for a fall wedding!!!  It is just so happy making, I hope it makes it's recipients super happy!!

And that is Quilt #19 - All the Trimmings ;)  19 Down and only 7 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :)   I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!!!

And that is it for today, thanks for popping in to share this finish with me!!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

Nature Walk - Quilts & More Magazine

Today I am so super excited to share a secret finish that I made at the beginning of the year!!  I had so much fun making this quilt in all its simple piecing goodness and I want to make it again and again.    It's called Nature Walk and I just love it!!!

Used with permission from Quilts & More magazine. ©2022 Meredith Operations Corporation. All rights reserved.

And it can be found in the Fall 2022 edition of Better Homes & Gardens' Quilts and More Magazine :)   And I got a fun surprise when I opened my copy . . . It has multiple size options added to it.   So you can actually make this quilt in the original lap size, or a mini size, or a baby size, or a twin size.   How awesome is that!!!

This original Natures Walk finishes at 60" x 72" so it is a great size to snuggle up with a good book :)   And don't you just love how on an angle it creates new secondary patterns that you didn't see before.  X or  Plus, you decide :)    You are going to love making this quilt!!

Nature Walk is  Fat Quarter  Friendly.  I used a Slow Stroll Fat Quarter Bundle by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics.  I absolutely love these fabrics, and I especially love the colors!!!  It was so fun to arrange my blocks transitioning from warm to cool.  It really is what made this design just shine!!!   And the nice thing is, since it is  Fat Quarter friendly, you can just grab a bundle for whatever size you want to make :)

When it came time to quilt mine, I wanted to take advantage of the perfect horizontal lines created in the piecing . . . and of course, that means L and E!!!  I just love quilting this fun little design, reminds me of doodling in elementary.    And I just love the added texture it gives!!!

And I always love a good flat image!!!  It just really shows off the transition in the colors and again, tilt your head slightly and you get a whole new secondary design.  So cool!!! Yup,  I totally want to sit in front of that fire wrapped up in this quilt, and it came home this week, so now I can :)

And that is my Nature Walk Quilt!!!    I hope you like my new Nature Walk Quilt as much as I do.   And if you make your own, I would love to see it!!!   You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc ;)  I can't wait to see your Nature Walk Quilts!!!

I hope that you have a very Happy Quilting Day :)
