ReplyDeleteI have been to the same retreat twice with my mom in Michigan! She and her friends have been going to this particular retreat center for probably 10 or 15 years and it was very fun to join them.

ReplyDeleteI just visited Scarlet Thread's shop. I found a couple of cute kits, but unfortunately they were both out of stock (probably because they were Christmas pillows!). I really liked the Have Yourself a Merry Christmas little pillow kit. Hopefully they will offer this one again!

ReplyDeleteLove retreats and go to at least two every year. Last one was with a former group of quilting friends, still keep in touch. And our guuld chapter has one or two retreats yearly down in Kennebunkport, Maine. Great time with friends.
My sister, her daughter, and I have our own sewing/quilting retreat every October in Sedona, AZ.

ReplyDeleteI quilt bi-weekly with a group of women - I've been with them since 2009, but a couple have been together even longer. We take a 3-day retreat each April to a nearby lodge for our own little retreat. It is a wonderful time to focus entirely on making just one thing or finishing up many things. The closeness of our group is enhanced each year, and the retreat affords us lots of encouragement and inspiration for each other.

ReplyDeleteI love quilt retreats- and now that my sister is quilting, we got to her lakehouse- usually about 6-8 of us. Sew a lot, jump in the lake, read, sew, eat, sew. Always good for the soul to be with people who understand you!!!

ReplyDeleteI have been lucky enough to have been to several quilting retreats over the years! My favorite is one called "Cabin Fever" and it is in Altamont, UT. Fabulous lodge, wonderful friends/quilters, and the food is great. I will be going again with my daughter in April of this year. (can hardly wait)! nettiecrain@live.com

ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilt retreat was on Long Beach Island, NJ. It was organized by ashop that is now closed and we did a mystery quilt. Even though it was held in March, we usually had nice enough weather to be able to walk on the beach.

ReplyDeleteMy Ottawa group has a retreat each time we get together to sew. We stitch at/for Camp Tuckabatchee, and sleep on air mattresses near our sewing machine (roughing it). It's fun. I haven't been to a 'professional' retreat, since they cost so much (ours is only $45 for the whole weekend).

I have not been to a quilt retreat before, my local guild host 2-4 a year, but (I work weekends, and can't really be away from home that long anyway. They do look like tons of fun, though!
