ReplyDeleteMy mom had the most amazing chocolate sheet cake. The icing was poured on while the cake was still hot. Very moist. She passed almost 20 years ago, and my sister and I make this for our families at least 4 times a year and always around Christmas.

ReplyDeleteChicken Pot Pie is a favorite around here and everywhere I take it, I am asked for the recipe or to bring it to the next party. Very easy to make and delicious with cream cheese, cheese soup, canned chicken, rice, and peas and carrots.

ReplyDeleteMy mom's meatloaf recipe. She always shaped it like a big oval bread loaf - and placed it in a big roaster, surrounding it with potatoes. It is a favorite to this day.

ReplyDeleteOur favorite family recipe is called Shipwreck. This is a layered casserole made with rice, chopped carrots, chopped celery, ground beef, and sliced potatoes. Between each layer is a layer of chopped onions and a couple spoonfuls of tomato sauce. This is a perfect dish for cold winter days as it is baked at a low temperature for 3 hours. It always amazes me that these simple ingredients taste so good together. Thanks!
