4 Patch Fun!!

So lately my Leaders and Enders have been making 4 Patches with leftovers from the adorable Hey Boo prints I used in this How They Shine Quilt.   I just love making 4 Patches, they are just so fun and fast and oh so cute!!!

And about a month ago, I turned my 4 Patches of leftover Favorite Things Christmas Prints from this quilt, into 16 Patches.   Which got me thinking, I should probably figure out what I am going to do with all of these Patches that keep growing into rather large piles.

So this morning, I remembered about the panels I had stuffed away in my cupboard ;)   The Hey Boo line comes with the cutest panel of "cute" Halloween Goodness!!!  I cut it up and realized quickly that some of those 4 patches will also need to be turned into 16 patches.  I figured out I have just enough patches and prints to do a 5 x 6 layout, a small border, and then a 4 patch border.   Oh, this is going to be so cute!!!  It's about this point where it stops being a leader-ender project and moves into the Just Make It pile.  So exciting!!!

And I also have some beautiful panel's left from Fancy That Design House's Christmas lines!!  I think they will be a perfect add to these Favorite Things by Sherri and Chelsi 16 patches.  The panels are a little larger than the patchwork, and I don't want to cut them down, so I am thinking an alternating patchwork and panel row layout.  Some sashing between the panels and this will be just the prettiest lap quilt for Christmas.   Yup, another project to add to the Just Make It list ;)

Isn't it fun how it starts as just simple 4 Patches and before you know it . . . it's a new quilt :)   That is my favorite thing about quilting, every little scrap can make something amazing!!   How about you . . . any 4 Patch fun going on in your sewing space???

  3. Oh what cute ideas! I have a ton of 4 patches from my leaders and enders pile, but mine are very random and not as cute as yours. However what a great idea to use them with small panels. Thanks for the idea!
