Petal Pop and more Happy Quilting Patterns!!

Thank you so much for all of the pattern love you have shared with me!!!  I am so glad that you are loving the 3 new Happy Quilting patterns I have shared this week!! Along with the three new patterns, 3 of my original Happy Quilting Patterns have also gotten a Make-over!!!  They are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way but now have the benefit of 10 years of writting patterns :)

I so wish I had time to "re-make" each of these quilts as I Re-Release the patterns . . . but as you can see, things are a little busy at Happy Quilting, tee hee hee.   But, I really wanted to make a new Petal Pop quilt as I changed up the pattern a bit.   So here is the new Petal Pop!!!

This version of Petal Pop is made with the gorgeous Kindred Fabrics by 1Canoe2 for Moda that is releasing any day now!!!   I just love the beautiful spring colors and stunning florals of this line, it was perfect for making my petals just pop!!!   I actually have had the quilt done for a bit and taught it in Texas in May, It just took a little longer to get all of the patterns ready to go ;)

I had so much fun custom quilting this version of Petal Pop    The original Petal Pop was done for a magazine and it was before I had a longarm and I sent it out to be quilted.   So I was super excited to  tackle this monster sized quilt.   I did loose feathers in the background, daisies in the center, figure 8's down the sides, and feathers in the petals.  I think it just came together so beautifully and I love all of the yummy texture!!

Petal Pop is made with a cool pieced log cabin technique. Trust me, the block isn't necessarily where you think it is, but it is way easier than it looks.     It is a great quilt for beginners and experts alike and   really is such a fun quilt to make.  And as you can see, you wind up with a fantastic finish  :)

And that is my new Petal Pop quilt and Re-Released Pattern!!! Again, you still get all of the things you loved about Happy Quilting Patterns with this new Re-Releases and then some added technical writting goodness that I have picked up over the years.

So are you ready to get Happy Quilting???  Pop over to my Etsy Shop, to pick up your Patterns.   Again, all 6 new PDF Patterns are just $5.50, and the 6 new Paper Patterns are $7.00,  until July 2nd :)     Always good to save on shipping!!   And if you are looking at making Blossoming Stars or Flower Child, be sure and pick up your Modified Drunkards Path template set as well for all of that awesome curved piecing!

And when you finish your  Happy Quilting Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc ;)  I can't wait to see your Happy Quilting Quilts!!!

Double Dutch - New Happy Quilting Pattern!!!

Today I am just thrilled to be sharing a new Happy Quilting Pattern and Quilts!!!   Here is Double Dutch!!! This is such a fun quilt to make.  I have already taught the class twice, and it was so much fun to watch everyone's blocks come together.  I can tell, this is going to be such a fun class to teach for the next little bit (In fact, I am teaching it at Garden of Quilts this Fall!!)

The  Double Dutch Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Paper Patterns are $7.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Double Dutch has lots of layout options, so you can make it as shown here with coordinating colors, or you can mix and match the colors like I did on the baby size (shown later)    The quilt is made with No Waste Flying Geese and basic piecing so it really comes together quick.  And with the fun offset layout of each block, it really gives the quilt a lot of movement.   Yup, just happy colorful windmills blowing in the distance :)

This version of  Double Dutch is made with Moonchild by Fran Gullick for Riley Blake Designs! I just love these beautiful colors and prints, and the line was perfect for the color coordinating I was going for on this quilt!!  And of course, the sky is the limit on which fabrics you make it from, it was so fun to see everyone's fabric choices for classes!!!  The quilt is Fat Quarter/Eighth Friendly, so you can Grab a Bundle and get cutting!!!

I quilted this version of  Double Dutch with lots of curly q's in the background and then beautiful feathers in the blocks.  I just love how they turned out and how the feathers in the blocks made it look even more like they were turning :)    And of course, all of the lovely texture is a double bonus ;)

And after I got the original quilted . . . I just couldn't help but make a Baby size  Double Dutch !!!   I wanted to show how fun it is to mix and match your color prints as well, so I used  a petite Fat Eighth Bundle of Forget Me Not by Allison Harris and then paired it with a fun Bee Lori Blue Background.   I think it turned out just oh so cute!!!

I quilted the baby size in an all over loose feather design. It was super fast and has become a favorite of mine, especially after quilting a big quilt all custom quilted :)

And if you are like me, and want to make multiple sizes, you can find the sizes that work just right for you!!!  The pattern has 5 size options :  Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin and Queen/King.  The Baby and Lap sizes uses smaller blocks and Fat Eighths while the Picnic, Twin, and Queen/King are the big 20" blocks with Fat Quarters.   So now you can make all the sizes :)

And that is my new  Double Dutch quilts and Pattern!!!    You are going to have so much fun making these quilts ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Double Dutch Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

So are you ready to start making your Double Dutch Quilts???  Pop over to my Etsy Shop, to pick up your Patterns.   Again, PDF Patterns are just $5.50, the Paper Patterns are $7.00,  until July 2nd :)    And while you are there, check out these other newly released and re-released patterns that are also on the same special ;)  Always good to save on shipping!!

Tying the Knot - A New Happy Quilting Pattern!!!

Today I am super excited to share a new pattern and quilts today!!!   Here is Tying the Knot!!! I had so much fun designing and making this quilt.  The blocks actually go together on point, so it is a nice mix up from regular old piecing!!!  It really is just such a happy quilt :)

The  Tying the Knot Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special (along with all of my patterns :)  for it's release with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Paper Patterns are $7.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Tying the Knot is really a great quilt to make!  If you didn't notice, this quilt "floats" so there are no points that you have to worry about  lining up.  This makes it great for beginners, and experts will also have fun with it as well!!     The quilt is made with some basic piecing techniques and the blocks go together on point with setting triangles.  But no worry, I left you a little wiggle room so you can trim each block to perfection!!   The cornerstones are just so cute and set the blocks off perfectly :)

This version of  Tying the Knot is made with Songbook a New Page by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics! I just love these beautiful Colors and the prints are just gorgeous.    And of course, the sky is the limit on which fabrics you make it from, and it is always so fun to see all of the different fabric choices you all make!!!  The quilt is Fat Quarter Friendly, so you can Grab a Bundle and get cutting!!!

I quilted this version of  Tying the Knot with some major custom quilting.  I did all over echoed paisleys in the background to really give lots of movement.  Then in the blocks I did Figure 8's, scalloped feathers, wavy lines, and pebbles.   And I did the cornerstones with little swirls.  I just love how it came together, but I will admit, it took a little while to get this giant quilt done with so much quilting ;)    But it was totally worth it for such pretty texture!!

And after I got the big Queen size quilted . . . I just couldn't help but make a Baby size   Tying the Knot !!!   I used low volume fat quarters from Meadowmere  that I had leftover from my Bountiful quilt. .  I just love how the metallic shines off of that beautiful Charcoal background!!  Isn't that just so fun, and a great way to use up some more Low Volumes!!!

I quilted the baby size in an all over loose feather design. It was fast and fun and perfect for this little quilt.   And up close, you can see how I fussy cut all of the bees for the cornerstones and center of the blocks.   So cute!!!

And if you are like me, and want to make multiple sizes, you can find the sizes that work just right for you!!!  The pattern has 6 size options :  Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin, Queen and King.  So now you can make all the sizes :)

And that is my new  Tying the Knot quilts and Pattern!!!  And remember this preview from a few weeks ago , , , It's the Twin size :)

And you might recall, but my Happy Quilting Patterns have a new look!!!  But no worries, they are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun making these quilts ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)       And thanks to the  . . .

Cherry Tree Lane Quilt and Free PDF Pattern!!!

Hello Quilting Friends!  Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Cherry Tree Lane quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features  Blossom Lane fabrics by Katherine Lenius. I just love all of the beautiful prints in this line!!  It is filled with gorgeous florals, happy doors, fun envelopes, and antique keys.  And the colors just bring a smile to my face, (especially the purples!!!)  And since this quilt is all about Lanes, I came up with this on point design, that has the look of a street grid.

Cherry Tree Lane is made with a 10″ Stacker of  Blossom Lane.   And yes, Cherry Tree Lane is from Mary Poppins ;)   As soon as I saw these prints, they just reminded me of the whimsey and magic of that childhood favorite.   Especially all of the doors, don't they just look like they belong on the row houses of Cherry Tree Lane!!!   I used the Windows and Knockers prints in cream to frame all of the blocks, and the Keys print for the border.  I just love how the black just sets off al off those gorgeous colors!!!

The Cherry Tree Lane quilt is a very easy one to make, and great if you want to learn how to sew quilts on point. It is simply just bordering your print squares from your Layer Cake/10" Stacker.  Then you just cross cut a few for setting blocks, and then piecing it all together.  The simple patchwork makes it a super great quilt to whip up for a wedding or similar special occasion.

The Cherry Tree Lane quilt is a Large Lap/Twin Size and finishes at 76″ x 93″. And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! To get the FREE PDF Cherry Tree Lane Download, just click here and download it :)

When it came time to quilt mine I knew I wanted to keep with the "lane idea" and what grows better on British Lanes then Ivy??  So I did my Loose Feathers free motion design that totally looks like ivy climbing the walls. I love all of the movement it gives, and it is a super fast design to do a well, double bonus!!! It will be just perfect to snuggle up in.

And that is my Cherry Tree Lane Quilt !! I hope you have enjoyed this post. Oh, and if you make your own Cherry Tree Lane Quilt, I would love to see it!!! You can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can’t wait to see your Cherry Tree Lane quilts!!!

Thank you so much for popping in and sharing this finish with me!!!

Crossing Paths - New Happy Quilting Pattern!!!

I am super excited to share another new pattern and quilts today!!!   Here is Crossing Paths!!! This is another one that I taught at Garden of Quilts two weeks ago, and it was so great to watch everyone's blocks come together.  I can tell, this is going to be such a fun class to teach for the next little bit :)

The  Crossing Paths Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Paper Patterns are $7.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Crossing Paths is such a fun quilt to make!  If you didn't notice, a lot of this quilt "floats" so there are only a few spots where you actually have to watch your points lining up, making it great for beginners, and experts will also have fun with it as well!!     The quilt is made with No Waste Flying Geese, Stitch and Flip Corners, Square in a Square Units, and basic piecing so it really comes together quick.  The cornerstones set the blocks off perfectly and make some fun secondary patterns as well ;)

This version of  Crossing Paths is made with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics! I just love these beautiful Fall colors and seasonal prints, and now this is finished just in time to welcome Fall!!!  And of course, the sky is the limit on which fabrics you make it from, it was so fun to see everyone's fabric choices for Garden of Quilts!!!  The quilt is Fat Quarter Friendly, so you can Grab a Bundle and get cutting!!!

I quilted this version of  Crossing Paths with something a little new.  I did my favorite loose feathers design, but rather then just doing them "all over" I did them in back and forth lines.   I think it turned out so cute, almost looks like ivy growing across the quilt!!   I just love it and will be quilting this design again for sure ;)

And after I got the big Queen/King quilted . . . I just couldn't help but make a Baby size  Crossing Paths !!!   I used low volume fat quarters from Songbook a New Page  and set them off on the beautiful Eggplant solid.   Isn't that just so fun, and a great way to use up some more Low Volumes!!!

I quilted the baby size in an all over wavy crosshatch design.  It was a little crazy to figure out at first how to sew these long diagonal lines on the longarm, but I am super happy with how it turned out.   It just adds so much texture!!!

And if you are like me, and want to make multiple sizes, you can find the sizes that work just right for you!!!  The pattern has 5 size options :  Baby, Lap, Twin, Picnic, and Queen/King.  So now you can make all the sizes :)

And that is my new  Crossing Paths quilts and Pattern!!!  And yes, my Happy Quilting Patterns have a new look, but they are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun making these quilts ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)
