Chubby Stars Again!

Yippee Skipee!!  So I finally got back to my Chubby Stars quilt.  I am sad that it got put off for so long as it really did not take me long at all to make up 20 more 4 patches and attach them in a border.  I am really happy that I choose to do the added work of unpicking in order to finish the stars in the border.    And didn't it just turn out great!!  It is so perfect for fall!!  Really, my camera does not do justice to these beautiful fall colors.

My plan (at sewing night) tonight is to make up a cute pieced back so that it will be ready to be basted and quilted tomorrow.  I am thinking about trying something new in the quilting.  Like pebbles in the Snowball blocks.  But I can's seem to put my finger on what to do in the chain blocks.  Any suggestions??

So this weekend was all about finishing up.  I had 2 huge quilts to be finished and the goal was to finish them both this weekend.  Which I did, unfortunately I have no pictures to show for it.    The first was my humanitarian quilt that in my haste to get it to the church Saturday night, I forgot to take a picture of it completed.  Arrrghhh!!  The second quilt to finish was a "baking" project.  And so of course, I'm not showing that picture either.

So now that those two huge quilts are finished I am going back to finishing up the border on my Chubby Stars Quilt.  Also, since that won't take me long to finish and I can't leave you without a picture, here are some of the fabric combos I'll be using for some upcoming projects that I have in mind.  Happy Quilting!!

My Brown Bag Arrived!!

I am so excited!!!!  Aren't these prints just wonderfully amazing!!!  I love polka-dots!!!  How did Glen know??  Glen even sent me the wonderful appliqué book in the back, how nice is that!!
I have already pulled 3 or 4 prints that I have in my stash that match so perfectly, and they are polka-dot too!!  Well I won't sleep much the next few nights just pondering on how to piece this together.  It's gonna be fun!

90 x 90

So Remember those selvages that I gave you a peek of on Friday.  Remember how I said I had cut them out that morning.  We'll they didn't stay in pieces for long.  Friday was the Father and Sons camp out so Jacob took the boys for the night.  Jessi, Kami, and I had a Barbie Movie Marathon and then after they went to bed I started sewing.  When I went to bed (at 2 am) this is what I had completed.  Now I just need to get it tied and bound and ready to be shipped off to the Humanitarian Center.  90 x 90 is big!!

What I'm Working On - Sneak Peek

I wrote down a list of all the quilts I have going on in different stages.  Most are just designs with fabric plans in my head, some are on-line groups I have joined, and  a few are in different stages of being completed.  It really helps to have a  list.  I won't tell you how many quilts are listed but I will say it is in double digits.  I know, obsessed much!!  So here is a little peek at two of the newer ones that are being  worked on.  These are making it so that the border on my chubby stars quilt is going to have to wait a week longer :)

This is a part of my next "Baking" project.  It is going to be Twin sized when it is done.  I am super excited about it, it is looking amazing!!
I just cut this quilt out this morning.  These are the selvages.  I was going for muted tones in the cool colors all from my stash.   I'm making this for Church Humanitarian needs and it will be 90 x 90 when it is done.  Stay tuned.

No More Holes :)

I got the holes that I created filled in.  It wasn't that bad but I sure procrastinated it.  I kind of got wrapped up in another quilt.  Unfortunately, piecing those holes didn't sound that fun so it just kept putting it aside.  But now it is done and I am so excited to get this quilt finished up.  I have to make 20 more 4 patches and then just put the border together with the star points I unpick-ed.  Stay tuned for the completed top.  I am toying with the idea of adding a leaf appliqué to each of the large snowball blocks.  What do you think???

Brown Bag Quilt Contest!!

So this afternoon I received my Brown Bag Quilt Contest partner.  I am so very excited for this challenge!!  So in case you don't know, here is how it works!  I pick out 2 yards (4 1/2 yard pieces) of fabric from my stash and wrap them up and mail them to my partner.   My partner does the same!  When I receive my package I have to make a quilt out of at least 90% of what I received and I can add whatever I want from my personal stash.  How fun does that sound!!!!    I will be sending off my package tomorrow, I can't wait for my to arrive.  I will post a picture of what I have to work with when it does :)

EDIT - If you want to get in on the action you can click on here.  It will be going until March of 2011.

What happens when you get ahead of the Quilt-A-Long

So I decided to finish the borders the way that we will be instructed today (oops) and so I had to do a bit of unpicking as I don not have one stitch of the gold print left.  I needed to borrow from what I already put in :)  Stay tuned for the rework process.

Chubby Stars Quilt-A-Long "Sorta"

Sorta is because I am no longer quilting a-long. I got so excited I just couldn't stop with this weeks assignment of 4 blocks. So now the top is completed and I am debating about borders. I think I will ponder on it for a day or two.

It turned out much more fall-ish that I first anticipated when I choose the fabrics but I am super happy with it. See those little squares, they are 1 inch squares. Like in the size of a quarter. Super tiny and super cute!! Thanks Tracey for hosting such an amazingly fun and creative quilt-a-long!

It's Here!!!! My Bakery Quilt!!!!

So I love the Moda Bake Shop!!! I have used lots of their tutorials and love the inspiration I get from all their amazing projects. If you have never been to the Moda Bake Shop now is your chance. It is amazing! Just click on this!

So a couple months ago I started looking into what it takes to be a Moda Bake Shop "Baker" (one of the people who designs their projects.) Two months later and Wha Laa!!! Here it is!! My first Moda Bake Shop creation. I am so excited about this I can hardly sit to type this.

So if you get a chance, please head on over and check it out. If you want to be super sweet, you can leave a comment. It is always nice to know that someone likes your design. And if you are really feeling it, go ahead and give the quilt a try. I really worked hard to try and make the tutorial easy to follow no matter what skill level you are at.

I think I will be perma-grin all day. That's it for today. Happy Quilting and hopefully Happy Baking!

Quilt-Along Competed!!

I finally finished unpicking my unfortunate quilting mistake last night. It is mistake I hope to not repeat any time soon. Of course, I started quilting it up first thing this morning. (I still don't have any make-up on :) In the end I decided to abandon the picture quilting idea. You just couldn't see the detail. Instead I went for an all over stippling stitch in red in a slightly larger pattern than what I normally do. It took a bit to get used to but I got the hang of it. I am really, really, happy with the overall outcome. So now it's all bound up and ready to go. Ya!!! This was such a fun quilt-a-long. Thanks again, Amy!! Your the greatest!! Happy Quilting!!

There so cute and Little!

I finished my four patch squares for the chubby star quilt-a-long!! I am really getting excited about this project. These squares will end up being 1" squares. So tiny, but oh how I love them. They are just so fun and I am really happy with how well my center seams came out. I love when four squares meet to make one perfect point!

Sorry, the pictures isn't the best. I don't claim to be a photographer by any stretch of the imagination.

We'll I suppose now that I have completed those I best get back to my unpicking. I still truly despise unpicking but I am making progress. Pretty soon I will be ready to start a nice free motion all over stippling. That will be good!
