August's Sew Sampler Box!!!

Well, here we are at the close of another month.  Man, summer sure does fly by.  But I am excited for things to slow down a bit now, as everyone is back to school and I have full day's to sew!!   And August's Sew Sampler Box has lots of goodies to sew with for sure!!!     I can't wait to get to my machine!!! 

I was so excited to find this gorgeous Sunray Day in the Life Fat Quarter Bundle!! Echo Park makes such fun designs, and this Day in the Life Fabric  is just so happy and full of life.   And how cute is that Sunray pattern!!!   Those blocks just burst and I love the pops of yellow and pink!!!  It truly encompasses a summer picnic :)   

And the notions for this month are fun!!!! This Scribbles Petite Tear away Quilting Paper is new to me, but such a great idea for new quilters learning to free motion quilt.  I think it will be a great technique builder!!!   And how adorable is that 1 1/2" Creative Grids square ruler.   I think I want to display it more than use it, it is just so cute!!!   And of course, I always love thread, and this Mettler cotton silk finish thread is just so fine!! So much quilty goodness!!

And yes, another month is coming and going in the Pressed Flowers Quilt Along!!!!  I still really want to do this quilt. maybe now that school has started I will have time to get caught up.  Here is hoping next month I will have lots of blocks to share!! 

And just a note, there are currently some openings for  Sew Sampler boxes so you can jump right in and start having this lovely little aqua box arrive at your doorstep too!!!   

And that is August Sew Sampler Box and I am so looking forward to September's Box, but I am also making a goal to sew the Pressed Flowers blocks before it comes ;)

Barn Star Sampler QAL - Month 8

 It's Month 8 of the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share another set of blocks!!!  Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop' for hosting this awesome quilt along!!  I am having so much fun sewing along and am just loving how each of these ombre stars are coming together :)     This month we are sharing Block 8 :)  

My Barn Star Sampler will finish at 100" x 100" square, so sometimes I will be making more blocks, but this month, it's just 2 like everyone else. I am so happy with the Rainbow of Ombre goodness in this months blocks!!!   This month's Block 8 is made . . .

And how fun are these Farmer's Star Blocks!!!  This month's colors had lots of contrast in them, and I think it just really makes these blocks pop.   I loved the more blocky design of these stars, and I think they will add such a great contrast to all of the other star blocks.

Rainbow "Playmat" by Josie and Brooke!!!

 I am so proud of these 2!!!!   A few weeks ago, my youngest Jocelyn, and her best friend, Brooke,  asked if they could make a quilted playmat to go in their "girls den" under the stairs.   They had already measured the space and everything.  They decided to go with rainbow scraps and how great did it turn out!!!   And they made it all, so amazing!!! 

I think my favorite part was watching them go through all of my scraps, picking out leftover Charm Squares and scraps that I then cut into charm squares for them.   And then, it was time to put it on the design wall.  They had so much fun playing with this rainbow of colors!!!  I loved seeing them arrange and rearrange the layout.  I am sure I am bias, but I think they both have an amazing eye for color!!!

Then, it was time to sew.  They learned how to "circle" sew and never once messed up their layout.  I was super impressed.   They even ironed in alternating directions so they could nest their seams when it came time to sew their rows together ;)  I was super impressed with their 1/4" seams and there were only a few that had to be "reverse sewn" and then sewn a little straighter ;)  

And they were super excited to try out the long-arm.   I thought they would be a little nervous, but they jumped right in and did arches over all of their patchwork.   And I loved that they weren't stressed about perfection, they were just happy to be quilting!!!  

And then, I helped them out with a rainbow binding to match the patchwork ;)   The 5" Charm squares finish at 4 1/2" and they choose 198 charm squares!!   So a 9 x 22 layout finished at 40 1/2" x 99".   And wouldn't ya know, it fits perfect under the stairs :)

  And now they get to pull out all of their  markers and coloring pages and spread out across the whole quilt!! So fun ;)  I have to say, I was a little nervous when they initially asked that this would turn into one of those projects that I had to finish.  But these girls blew me away!!!  They were so energetic and happy to be working on this and they did it all, start to finish ;)   Looks like I have some more Happy Quilters :)

Bountiful!!!

  Today is the final release of the Bountiful Quilt Along and I am just sew excited to see everyone's quilts!!  This is Fat Quarter Shop's 10th Annual Charity Quilt Along and they are always my favorite :)  And I can't believe we have already made it to the finish!!!  You can find the  Patterns Here.   Didn't it just turn out so cute!!!

I used Meadowmere for by Gingiber for my quilt and I am just thrilled with how it turned out.   I just love the colors in this line.   The prints are beautiful, and the pop of metallic are just awesome!!! I loved this fabric so much, I wanted to use every last scrap, so I added the piano keys border and square in a square corners.   I think it just frames it up perfectly, and I love seeing every last bit of fabric used ;) 

When it came time to quilt mine, I decided on mixing up all my favorites in a fun all over design.  So there are echoed paisleys, swirls, curls, and large pebbles.   I love all of the texture it gives to the quilt!!   And all the curves just soften it up so much, so pretty!!   And of course, 402 So Fine for the win!!!

I have had so much fun participating in this Bountiful Quilt Along!!!  And I am so glad to be a small part in helping such an amazing cause ;)   Yu can still   download the Bountiful patterns right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $10.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)  And I am super excited to say ,  Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL has already raised over $ 60,000!!!  With Moda Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop matching up to $30,000, there are going to be a lot of amazing wishes granted :)
