Chuckles Quilt

Well, my sweet little nephew Carson, decided to give his parents something to be especially grateful for on Thanksgiving by arriving  3 weeks early on that morning ;)   He is such a cutie, just an adorable little peanut!!!   And now, I get to share his quilt!!  You might remember the quilt top from here, funny how fast time flies :)     But here it is in all of it's finished goodness, the Chuckles Quilt!!!

This is a pattern that Elizabeth Hartman did exclusively for the August Sew Sampler box, and I fell in love with the pattern and her Reef fabric right away and knew that I wanted to make it up for my little nephew ;)  How cute are those adorable little fishes!!!

And I just love the way the fish are offset.  I tend to always design in symmetrical, I think it is the accountant part of my brain, but I just love the way these fish look to be swimming in a school :)

And since they needed to be swimming, I decided to quilt them some waves!!!  I just did some free motion continuous arches and repeated row after row.  I didn't worry to much where there points came up as I wanted it to feel pretty organic, and I just love the way it turned out.   I used Fantastico Dapper, a blue/black/grey variegated thread, and just love the little bit of shimmer it gives the quilting.

And that is my finished Chuckles quilt.  And now it is hanging on Carson's wall above his crib, waiting for him to get a wee bit older so he can see those cute little fish swimming away :)   I just love making baby quilts!!!  They are so fun to make and even more fun to give to sweet little angels!!!

Makes me want to go start another one :)

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up this finish to Amanda's, Sarah's, and Myra's ;)

Busy Bee Blocks

It's November 30th and I am excited to say that my November Bee Blocks are going in the mail ;)  Whew, just finished those in the nick of time!!!  This month Shannon asked us to make some Simple Stars in blues and green's for her son's beds.

I just love making Star Blocks and these two blocks went together super quick ;)  Even if I messed up the first time around because I tried to make my star points with the wrong size square.  Gotta love it when you get going a little to fast ;)    Luckily, I had some of the same Grunge in my stash, and an endless supply of blue and green scraps!!!

And somehow, I never posted September's bee block but I did indeed make it on time ;)  Calli had us make some adorable Bear Claws!!  These are such a classic block and I just loved making it in these adorable 30's fabrics.

And did you notice that I skipped October?  We'll that just happened to be my month in the bee!!!   I asked my bee mates to make a True North block this time around.  I just love this block design but have wanted to do it in non Christmas fabrics for a while.

So I sent the amazing gals in my group prints from Raindrop by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Cotton + Steel.   And a few blocks have returned and can I just say, they are amazing!!!  I can't wait for all of the blocks to come back so I can put this one together.  It is going to be so fun ;)

I will be sure to share more on this one as the blocks come back home ;)

Hope you are having a Happy Quilting Day!!!

Spool Souffle Quilt

Today I am excited to share my newest finish, the Spool Souffle quilt and isn't it just so cute!!!    This is the newest Shortcut Quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop and I absolutely love these patterns.  They are so fun and fast to make!!   And these little spools are no exception, they go together in a blink of the eye and really are a whole lot of fun to make :)  And how perfect is this design for all of us quilters!!

For my quilt I decided to use a Tuppence Layer Cake by Shannon Gillman Orr.   I just love the beautiful floral prints and the wonderful colors.   They really made the spools pop!!  And as you can see,  this is a great design to really show off  those gorgeous medium size prints in the spool centers :)  Aren't they just so pretty!!!

I love the little cornerstones that break up the spools and decided to add those into the outer border as well, which is a slight variation from the original pattern :)  And I just happened to have a little bit of leftover yardage from V & C that matched perfect for the outer border and binding.   Isn't it just so fun when it works out like that!!!

When it came time to quilt it, I decided on an all over open center swirl in my favorite 402 Pearl So Fine thread.  I was thinking more custom quilting but time ended up being the deciding factor on this one and these swirls quilt up super fast ;)   And like always with swirls, I just love it!!!  The texture is so great and the swirls give that extra movement that is just so fun :)

And that is my Spool Souffle quilt!!!  If you would like to make your own Spool Souffle quilt you can find the free pattern here and the accompanying You Tube Video right here that walks you through putting it together ;)   And be sure to pop on over to the Jolly Jabber for lots more Spool Souffle Quilt finishes and inspiration!!!  You are going to have so much fun making this quilt!!!

Thanks for popping in today :)  I just love having this wonderful little corner of the internet to share my love of quilting with each of you and am so grateful for your visits each and every day!!!

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

November Sew Sampler Box!!

Can you believe November is almost over.   I hope all of my US friends had a Happy Turkey Day ;)  I know I ate way to much pie, but it was oh so yummy.   And with November coming to a close, it means happy mail arrived over the weekend in another wonderful Sew Sampler box :)  This month's theme is Fall in Love and I indeed have to say that I fall in love with my Sew Sampler box each month!!

I have shared a few projects using Farmer's Daughter, and I just love this line!!!!  So I was so excited to find a Fat Quarter pack of 6 beautiful Farmer's Daughter prints, and the gorgeous Autumn Stars pattern.   And I even have a few extra Fat Quarters that I can use to make the Bonus Size, so excited!!!

And these little Clothespins from Moda are just to cute for words!!!  I don't know what I am going to use mine for yet, but I just love them!!!   I mean those tiny strips, polka dots, and gingham, how can you not just love them!!!

And the other Notions in this month's box were just great!!!  I love this Rotary Cutter case.  I am always throwing my cutter in the bottom of my bag when I go to teach and then worry I am going to slice my finger open when I reach in my bag.  Problem solved :)  And those quilting needles are going right to Barbara, as I owe her some new ones for all the binding she does for me ;)    And that beautiful Christmas card is going to someone very special!!

And last, but certainly not least,  this month's Basket Block!!!   I really loved the 3 print fabrics in this month's block.  The red, white, and black really pop off of that white on white background ;)  I can't believe we have already made 8 of these.  Only 4 more to go!!!

And that is my November Sew Sampler Box  . . . and I just have to say, it was so nice to come home to this in my mailbox.   It's always hard to leave family time and get back to life, but happy quilty goodness in your mailbox makes it a little easier to come home for sure ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!!
