This was a bee quilt, and the lovely ladies of the Beejeebers group from 2013 each made a block. Aren't they just so happy and colorful!!!
I actually made a Star Value Block Tutorial way back in 2013 as well. It has 5 different block size options and is super easy to follow. You can find the Star Value Block Tutorial right here and a printable version here. It is such a fantastic scrap buster!!! (and it works perfect as leaders and enders as well :)
So lets go back a minute to why this was my Longest Work in Progress. What was the hold up on finishing this quilt?? You see, I had finished the quilt top and basted it with safety pins all ready to go. But that was right about the time when we got the long arm and I was trying to learn the basics of quilting on it. And ya, you don't baste with pins on a long arm. I had always planned to still quilt this on my domestic machine, just to keep up practice with that. Well, that little missing market party made me realize that it just wasn't happening. So I loaded it on the long arm and removed the basting pins as I quilted along. Easy fix :) I opted for some favorite basic swirls in varying sizes. I just love quilting swirls!!!
Then I went to my binding basket ;) I keep all of my leftover bits from other bindings in a basket. They are just perfect to make scrappy bindings for super happy scrappy quilts. I just sewed bits together until I had a binding that was long enough, and it was already pressed and ready to go. Yippee!! And I just love the scrappy rainbow goodness that just matches the quilt perfectly ;)
And finished. Yippee!! My oldest Work in Progress is now complete and I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out ;) In fact, I think I might just need to be making another one to bust some more scraps. So fun!!! And again, if you want to make one as well, you can find the Star Value Block Tutorial right here and a printable version here :) Just decide on how many blocks you want and get your scrap busting on ;)
Thanks for popping in today and each day!!!! I just love having this amazing space to share my creative journey with each of you.
Have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
P.S. You might have noticed . . . we got our first snow of the season :)
