Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along for 2022 - It's Coming!!!!

I am so super excited!!!  It's been announced!!! The 2022  Fat Quarter Shop Charity Quilt Along is Heart Felt and it is absolutely gorgeous :)  This will be my 8 Year participating and I have just loved being a part of such an amazing Quilt Along that benefits such an amazing cause!!!  (2015 Snapshots2016 Crossroads2017 Patchwork,  2018 Clementine2019 Threadology2020 Bloomtopia, 2021 Serendipity)  It is just so incredible to have so much good to be tied up into one quilt ;)  This Charity Quilt Along benefits Make a Wish, and there were some wonderful Wishes granted from this Quilt Along last year, isn't that just amazing!!!!

And along with Making Wishes come True . . . you also get to sew a beautiful Heart Felt quilt!!!!   I can't wait to get started on this!!!  I just love stitching hearts and Fat Quarter Shop has designed 6 different  Heart Blocks that have come together to make this stunner of a quilt!!   I especially love that they made some hearts in stars, because you all know, I just love piecing Star blocks as well :)

The Heart Felt Quilt Along block piecing starts on February 4th, 2022 and a new block will be released the first Friday of each month.   Fat Quarter Shop will be releasing the Fabric Requirements on January 14th, but the cool thing is . . .we can get them even earlier!!   The Make A Wish Campaign has already begun, and as soon as it reaches $20,000 . . . Fat Quarter Shop will release the Fabric Requirements!!!   (So help spread the word so we can all get a jump start ;)

The Heart Felt Quilt features Beautiful Day Fabrics by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics.   (And I have already worked with these fabrics for some secret sewing and let me tell you, they are gorgeous!!!)    Beautiful Day Fabrics release in December, but you can reserve an exclusive Heart Felt Quilt Kit and Backing Set now,  (And isn't that quilt back just so fun!!!!)   The Heart Felt Quilt Kit comes with all the fabrics you need for the blocks, background and binding and it even comes in a Bonus Keepsake Box with Magnetic Closure.   And one other bonus . . . The Kit comes with all of the patterns so you don't have to wait each month for them to be released, and yes, it's the only place to get them early ;)

Choosing fabrics is always so fun, and I am super excited to be using Flirt by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics for my Heart Felt Quilt!!  I love that the hearts in the line will just go perfectly with the hearts in the piecing :)   And I want all of those beautiful low volume prints to stand out, so I am planning on using a Graphite Cross Weave for my background!!!    I just love a colored background and the Cross Weave will also add an awesome texture too :)     I did a little mock-up . . . it isn't the exact design as I was just whipping it up fast, but it really gives the idea of what it will look like and I just love it!!!

So do you want to join in and quilt along for a great cause??  Watch for the Fabric Requirements to be released, then have fun shopping, and mark  January 14th on your calendar for the Heart Felt Quilt Along Kick-off!!!    It's going to be so much fun!!! You can pop on over to the Heart Felt Quilt Along Page for all the details and easy access links for the pattern releases :)

I can't wait for some Happy Charity Quilting in 2022!!!!

Serendipity Quilt Along - Finish!!

The Serendipity Quilt Alonghosted by the Fat Quarter Shop has just come to an end and I am thrilled to be sharing my finished quilt!!!!  This has been such a fun quilt to make and I am so excited with how much was raised for Make a Wish Foundation, as in $120,000!!!!  Isn't that just amazing!!!    I just love participating in Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL as not only do I finish with a beautiful quilt, but it also benefits so many wonderful children and their families!!!

I did not do the Pieced Backing on my quilt, just a basic one so I didn't bother to take a picture of it.  But if you want to do the original backing (it is a super cute flower ), you can find the Backing Pattern Here.    It is a super cute way to finish up the quilt, but I was just happy to get the quilt finished up with all of the craziness that is July :)

And when it came time to quilt mine, I decided on an all over echoed paisley.  I haven't quilted this in a little while, and it is still a favorite all over design.  In fact, there is a video tutorial of how I do it right over here ;)   I just love all of the beautiful texture it adds to the quilt!!!

I can't even begin to say how much I have enjoyed this QAL!!!  This is my 7th year participating in the annual Charity Quilt Along (2015 Snapshots2016 Crossroads2017 Patchwork,  2018 Clementine2019 Threadology2020 Bloomtopia and of course, this year with Serendipity) .   And I have loved it every bit as much as the previous years and now I get to look forward to next year's !!!!

Be sure to share all of your Serendipity finishes on social media with #serendipityquiltalong!!!    I can't wait to see all of your finished quilts!!!!   What an amazing QAL this has been for such a wonderful cause :)  And here is to looking forward to 2022's Charity QAL!!!!

Thanks for popping in today ;)  I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

Bloomtopia - Finished!!!

It's the final day of the Bloom-Topia Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop and I am thrilled to be sharing my finished quilt!!!!  This has been such a fun quilt to make and I am so excited with how much was raised for  Make a Wish Foundation :)  I just love participating in Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL as not only do I finish with a beautiful quilt, but it also benefits so many wonderful people!!!

I did not do the 2020 Pieced Backing, just a basic one so I didn't bother to take a picture of it.  But if you want to do the original backing, you can find the Backing Pattern Here.    My layout is totally different than the original pattern so the original backing would not have fit ;)  And there are links at the end of this post to all of the alterations I did, just in case you want to make your Bloomtopia quilt with the same layout as mine ;)

And when it came time to quilt mine, I decided on an all over loose feather.  Mostly because it is super fast, and this was a super big quilt that I quilted all of yesterday.   So a quick and pretty design was just the trick.  And I just love all of the beautiful texture it adds to the quilt!!!

I can't even begin to say how much I have enjoyed this QAL!!!  This is my 6th year participating in the annual Charity Quilt Along (2015 Snapshots, 2016 Crossroads, 2017 Patchwork2018 Clementine, 2019 Threadology, and this year 2020 Bloomtopia) .   And I have loved it every bit as much as the previous years and now I just get to look forward to next year's !!!!

But before we start looking to next year, there is still a little fun left for this 2020 Bloomtopia Quilt Along!!!  Both Sherri and Chelsi, and Pat Sloan are acutioning off their Bloomtopia quilts and all the funds raised will go to Make a Wish Foundation.  Isn't that so great!!!  You can see all of the details of the auction at the Jolly Jabber :)   The auction ends July 25th and the winners and fundraiser results will be announced August 1st :)

Be sure to share all of your Bloom-Topia finishes on social media with #bloomtopiaquiltalong!!!    I can't wait to see all of your quilt tops!!!!   What an amazing QAL and here is to looking forward to 2021's Charity QAL!!!!

And just to make it easy to find . . . Here is a list of all the places to find my alterations

Thanks for popping in today ;)  I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

Threadology Wishes Coming!!!

So it's been a little quiet around here.   Sorry about that :)  I just got back from a camp with 30 teens ages 14-18 from my church  and I was so busy trying to get ready to go, I didn't get any blog posts scheduled for while I was out of cell service.   But it's all good right, that is all part of summer greatness!!!  Getting away from technology and enjoying the great out doors!!!  And we have lot's more outdoors planned to cram in to the next month and a half, so we will see how things go around here over the next few weeks :)

But it is always great to get back to my machine :)  I am working on some new things, and working on finishing up a few older things that I will be able to share soon.   But for today, I just wanted to pop in an give you a final update on the Threadology Quilt Along.

The Quilt Auction of mine and Pat Sloan's Threadology quilts finished this morning.  And I am thrilled to report that it raised $1,437 dollars which is just so awesome!!!

Add that to the amount of $21,648.96 that was raised from donations through out the Threadology Quilt Along from all of the wonderful quilters out there that quilted along.   And then don't forget to add in the $20,000 matched by Moda Fabrics and the Fat Quarter Shop!!!

That is a total of $43,085.96 raised to benefit Make a Wish Foundation!!! Isn't that just incredible.   In 2016 this Charity Quilt Along raised enough to make these two wishes below come true.   And this year, it looks like the amount raised will grant at least 3 wishes to children and that just makes me smile :)

Isn't this industry just amazing to be a part of!!!

Happy Quilting, Indeed!!!!

Threadology Quilt Along Finish and Auction!!!

Well it's that time. . . The Threadology Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop is coming to a close and that means finished quilts!!!!   I absolutely love this part of a Quilt Along, seeing everyone's finishes is just so much fun :)    This has been such an amazing event to be a part of and I just love that it was all for such a wonderful cause!!

My quilt finished at 72" x 72" as I did a different layout with more blocks which I described in this post.    This alternating block layout really turned out to be a fun way to mix and match all of those blocks in the two different sizes.   And I just love all of the happy colors and prints.  I used bits and pieces from several Bonnie and Camille fabric lines (including Handmade, Hello Darling, Little Ruby, and Daysail)  and I just love how they all blend in a wonderful harmony across the quilt.

And when it came time to quilt it, I went all out ;)   I did tiny pebble quilting in all of the white space on the quilt to give the quilt lots of texture and help each of the block designs stand out.  Then I quilted each block in it's own little design using petals, feathers, loops, L and E's, arches, wavy lines, cross hatching, and ribbon candy.  It was so much fun to quilt and while it took a while, it was so worth it :)

My favorite 402 Pearl So Fine thread blended perfectly on all of the prints and really made the texture of those pebbles just pop.    And that texture really makes each block stand out, which had me doing a major happy dance.  I am just thrilled with how it all came out and ya, basically I just love it!!! I just wanted to run my hands across the quilt top for days feeling all of that wonderful quilting texture.

But I only had a few days for that because this quilt needed to put in the mail to head to my friends at Fat Quarter Shop because . . .  Surprise Surprise . . .  I decided to Auction this quilt off along with Pat Sloan's to raise even more funds for the amazing Make a Wish Foundation :)

Yup, that's right.  This quilt is now being Auctioned right over here, and all of the proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.  And can I tell you how much that just warms my heart.  I love that I can use my passion for quilting to help others, it just doesn't get any better than that ;)

And that is my Threadology Quilt!!!!   And now it's your turn to finish yours and I can't wait to see it!!!   And if you are quilting along with the Threadology fun you can download the backing pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)    And wow, you all have been so awesome donating!!!

And be sure to share your Threadology Quilts on social media with #threadologyquiltalong and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for lots more finished Threadology Quilts and Details on the Quilt Auction!!!!   Eeee , I just love seeing all of these beautiful finishes!!!

And that's it for the Threadology Quilt Along!!!!  I am so glad that I was able to participate in this wonderful Threadology Quilting Along and I am already looking forward to next year's Charity Quilt Along.  It's going to be hard to wait 6 months to see what the new design will look like, but I know it is going to be amazing and totally worth the wait ;)

Thanks for popping in today and each and every day ;)   I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

Threadology Quilt Along - Quilt Top!!!

So I went out of town this weekend, and didn't even realize that it was over the 1st of June which means . . . The Threadology Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop!!!!   And since all of the blocks are done now, it is time to sew those quilt tops together!!  How fun is that ;)    And of course, I totally forgot to take a picture of my quilt top before I put it on the long arm, so you get a few finished pics today as well!!!

And if you recall, I choose to do a different setting then the original Threadology design ;)   I used 3 Large Blocks of each of the 8 block designs (24 of the 12" blocks)  and 6 small blocks of each of the 8 block designs (48 of the 6" blocks).   Which of course meant I was sewing more blocks, but they turned out so cute in this layout!!!    Isn't it just so fun!!!

And I am sure some of you might ask, so here is the basic layout of my altered Threadology QAL finish :)   Simply sew two small blocks together, and then add a large block to the side of the two small blocks to make the new Giant Block.   I just sewed random blocks together to make the Giant Blocks.   Then layout 6 Giant Blocks per column and make 4 columns, alternating the big and small blocks.  Sew it all up into a 72" x 72" finished quilt top ;)   So fun and fast!!!

And if you are quilting along with the Threadology fun you can download the original  quilt top pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)   Or if you have been making extra blocks, you can finish your quilt top like mine :)  Oh, and super exciting news!!!!  And I am super excited to say that  Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL has reached it's stretch goal of  $20,000 that Fat Quarter Shop and Moda will match.  But of course, you can still help Make a Wisth ;)     How awesome is that!!!   And since the stretch goals were reached,  it came a few extra finishing patterns that you can check out at Fat Quarter Shop's blog, they are so fun!!!

And while making your putting your quilt top together, you can check out the   You Tube video tutorial that walk you through the process of making your quilt top and Kimberly shares some awesome and helpful hints  :)

Be sure to share all of your Threadology progress on social media with #threadologyquiltalong and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for Quilt Top Finishes!!!!    There is so much Threadology inspiration and goodness!!!

And that's it for the Threadology Quilt Along today!!!!  I will be back on June 15th with more of the actual finish and a special suprise ;)      And if you didn't have time to quilt along, the Threadology Quilting Along patterns will always be available.   Just for future reference :)
