August Sew Sampler Box!!

So my August Sew Sampler box had a few little issues getting to me but I am so happy that it has now arrived safe and sound, even if it is September.  (That just means I don't have to wait near as long for the September box now ;)  So by now, I am sure you have all seen the awesome August box in one place or another, but I just had to share its awesome goodness one more time ;)

And I am so super excited about these!!! I already had a copy of The Jolly Bar Book, so this one will be for Barbara as we are both just loving the fun quilts you can whip up with these.   From this book I  have already made one quilt, have another on the Long Arm, and you better believe this Sundrops Jolly Bar won't be sitting in my stash for long ;)  So fun!!!

And of course, I can't finish a Sew Sampler Box post without the newest Sew Sampler Block!!!  I am just loving these fun blocks and I can't wait for each month to sew another one up.   This is going to be such a fun quilt when it all comes together ;)

I am off to work on that aforementioned quilt that is on the long arm ;)   What are you Happy Quilting Today??

Raspberry Sorbet in Quilts from Quiltmakers 100 Blocks

It is always a fun day when I get to reveal a  secret sewing finish from a while back!!  And so let's get right to it.  This is Raspberry Sorbet and oh, I just love it's yummy pink and red solid goodness!!!

Raspberry Sorbet is featured in Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Fall 2016 edition that just hit newsstands last week!!!   I am just thrilled to have my quilt among so many other amazing quilts from wonderful folks around the industry.  So fun!!!

Raspberry Sorbet uses my Boxed It All Up block from Volume 13  of Quiltmakers 100 blocks.   But Raspberry Sorbet is in done in a different size, adds a sashing, and obviously, it uses solids to create a fun all over ombre effect.

And don't you just love that ombre effect!!!  Oh so fun!!!   I used Bella Solids in Christmas Red, Strawberry, Country Red, Raspberry (where the name came from) and Burgundy along with a Bella Solid Bleached White for the Background and Black for the Binding.   I just love how that crisp white background just adds to the color gradient popping off the quilt!!

And I can never get enough of wonderful geometric goodness.  This block creates a fantastic secondary design which makes you sort of lose where the actual block is as it blends right in.  I love that in quilts ;)

When it came time for quilting I decided on an all over Echoed Paisley.  I love adding lots of curves in quilting to a super geometric quilt, it just complements it so nicely ;)   And I have a video tutorial on this particular quilting design right here if you want to try your hand at it ;)

And that is Raspberry Sorbet!!!!   It measures 66" x 79" so it's just perfect for a twin size bed or to use as a large lap quilt to snuggle up in.   And I just have to say, I just love how they  style pictures for magazines, always makes me smile ;)

And that's it for today ;)   Thank you so much for popping in and sharing this secret sewing reveal with me ;)  I still have to pinch myself some days that I get to share my love of quilting with so many amazing people each day!!

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

Linking up this finish to Amanda's and Sarah's ;)

Picket Fences Quilt from the Jolly Bar Book!!!

I love making baby quilts so when Fat Quarter Shop asked me if I wanted to check out their new The Jolly Bar Book full of 20 Jolly Bar patterns mostly all baby sized, I was all over it!!! And I totally fell in love with the Picket Fences Quilt pattern.   Isn't it just so fun!!!

A Jolly Bar is a 5"x 10" precut exclusive to Fat Quarter Shop.   And The Jolly Bar Book is full of 20 wonderful fun and fast quilts you can whip up.  It really is one of those great "go to" resources for quick and cute quilt designs.  And how brilliant is it that they made the book  the same size as the pre-cut.  So cute!!!

I went with a  The Treehouse Club Jolly Bar by Sweetwater for Moda.   I love that it is essentially gender neutral so I can add this quilt to my "handmade baby gifts" pile and have it ready for a special new arrival, whether it be a boy or a girl.

And it just is so cute in the quilt!!  Don't you just love the wonderful back and forth movement of the design.  And I love that the Jolly Bar size really allows you to show off the prints in the line.

When it came time to quilt it, I did a little custom quilting of some of my favorites.  Swirls in the Jolly Bar's and Wavy Arches echoed in the squares.   I love how it really makes the design stand out all the more and adds a little curvy goodness to all of those nice crisp lines in the piecing.

And of course, it also adds to its super snuggly nature.  Nothing adds to a quilts cuteness as a newborn snuggled up in it ;)

And that is my Picket Fences quilt from the new Jolly Bar Book!!!  I just love it and can't wait to see what sweet little baby it will be for.

And ya, you might recall from the other day, that I had so much fun piecing the first quilt, that I moved right into a second one, so you will be seeing another Jolly Bar Book quilt in the near future, just as soon as I get it quilted and bound (my quilting kind of day didn't go quite as planned ;)

But you can still see lots more Jolly Bar Book quilts today.  Be sure to pop around and check out all of the fun Jolly Bar Book quilts made by some of my amazing blogger friends ;)

Summer Breeze Quilt

Note - Just in case you are wondering, Terrific Tuesday Giveaway Day is coming, it will just be posted a little later today :)

I am super excited to get to share a new quilt finish today!!!   A little while ago I was asked but my friends at Fat Quarter Shop if I wanted to try out one of their new patterns.  And of course, I fell in love with it the second I saw it.  How could you not, I mean, how fun is this new Summer Breeze Quilt!!!!

The second I saw this quilt design, I knew I wanted to use my Grand Canal Fat Quarter Bundle that I picked up at Sample Spree during Quilt Market.   I just love Kate's gorgeous colors and prints and they are just stunning in this fantastic design!!

And what a fun pattern it was to make up!!!  I had so much fun with all of the angles and points, and playing with triangles.  I realized while making this quilt that I don't piece near enough with triangles, they just give you so many possibilities and I  really enjoyed seeing the design come together.

To make the triangles we used a Kaleidoscope Ruler and you cut them out of strip piecing so that really speeds things up.  Then once your blocks are sewn together, you use an 8 1/2" square ruler to trim them up.   And do you notice that new mat I am cutting them on, EEEkkk!!!!  I have seen Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop use this Matilda's Own Rotating Cutting Mat in so many of her videos and decided it would be the perfect Birthday Present last month.    I love it!!!!!   Oh my goodness, it just makes trimming so much fun!!!

And even though the quilt looks a little difficult, it really comes together quite easily when broken down.  And of course, Kimberly made it even easier with a fantastic You Tube tutorial that walks you through each step of making the quilt.

When it came time to quilt my own Summer Breeze quilt I decided on an all over Feathered Swirl.   I love how the soft curves in the quilting really complement all of the wonderful angels in the design.   This is one of the designs I have published in 180 Doodle Quilting Designs book and is really a favorite of mine ;)

And that is my Summer Breeze Quilt!!!   This is going to be a special gift for a special friend, and I can't wait to give it to her.  I just love being able to wrap people in quilty hugs ;)

Thanks for popping in today and be sure to pop on over to Fat Quarter Shop so you can see all about the  Summer Breeze quilt and be sure to check out all of these other bloggers beautiful Summer Breeze quilts!!!   Lots of  quilty eye candy ;)
