So Long 2021, Hello 2022!!!

Wow, what a year in quilting!!!   I just love this end of year post that allows me to step back and see what a year has allowed me to create.   And looking forward to this new year is just so exciting, I have so many things I want to do in 2022 :)  So let's take a look of what has been happening over the past year!!

As I look back over this past year, I just can't even express how grateful I am to have found this amazing industry to be a part of.  I just love doing what I do each and every day!!!   I am so blessed by all of the wonderful friends I have made through this quilting journey, and I look forward to making many more.  Thank you so much for reaching out to me in comments, emails, and sharing your pictures.  It just warms my heart and again, reminds me of how blessed I am to be able to enjoy Happy Quilting every day :)

So what does 2022 hold in store . . . well, Lot's more Happy Quilting, of course :)     I am super excited to get to share more of my big secret reveal as it becomes available :)  Books are always such a huge process and it is so great to finally get to share them when the time comes.     I have New Patterns all in different stages of completion that I can't wait to share.  I also really want to get some of my "waiting to be quilted" quilts done.  I have over 15 quilts with the tops, back, and bindings all done and are just hanging next to the long-arm waiting :)   So ya, look forward to seeing some oldies but goodies finally finished ;)   And of course, there will be lots of daily Happy Quilting fun!!!

And One Last Thought Before I Wrap This Up . . . Thank you!!!!

I know those are just two simple little words, but I mean them truly.   I can't believe I have been writting here for over 10 years, and if it weren't for all of you, I wouldn't be.   I am so incredibly grateful for each of you and am blessed to have been able to share this little space of my quilting joy!!!

And I guess that means it is time to say goodbye to 2021 and look towards 2022!!!!!  Bring on the Happy Quilting!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours

Each year Jacob (my sweetheart) writes a Christmas Letter and I send it out to friends and family.  So of course, I wanted to share it with my friends here at Happy Quilting!!!   So here is what has been happening with the Corry's, and just a hint, there is a little secret sewing shared in it ;)

Dear Family and Friends

Another year has passed us by and unfortunately the Dodgers are no longer reigning World Series Champs, but at least the Astros didn’t win.

We are still happily settled in Cedar City. I fill my time with work, the cabin and helping to coach our county NICA mountain bike team in the summer and fall.

Melissa continues to occupy herself with all things quilting. People are often amazed by how many quilts she puts together in a year. She’s been working on another book that I think will be released this coming year.

Spencer is currently serving in the Frankfort Germany mission. We experienced home MTC together and even shipped him up to Salt Lake for a week while we went to Lake Powell early on. He was able to go straight to Germany from the MTC and has been over the pond (does that apply to all of Europe or just England?) since September. He is currently in his second area with his second companion. We love seeing and speaking with him every Thursday and miss him desperately. I have come to the conclusion that nothing can prepare you for your first child leaving home.

Jessi is a junior at Success Academy and Cedar High School. She recently finished her 3rd Cross Country season. As she was able to run all season without injury it was a resounding success. She has also started dating and driving, neither of which give me significant comfort, but she hasn’t wrecked Penelope (the name she has given our 20 year old Ford Escape) and has a really good group of friends which does give me significant comfort.

Kristian is a freshman at Success Academy and Cedar High School. He participated in his first high school mountain biking season this year (having competed as a Jr Devo rider the past 2 years). Obviously his biggest change of the year has been going from a shared room to having the whole room to himself. He keeps his room much cleaner now that his older brother is gone (one of the very few benefits to having Spencer gone). It seems Kristian has grown inches and dropped octaves in the past year and I find him to be quite helpful when working on projects around the house.

Kamryn is a 7th grader as Cedar Middle School. She also took on Mountain Biking this year and thoroughly enjoyed herself. It was a challenge getting her over her fear on her first few rides, but once she got to know her coaches she settled in nicely and is looking forward to the spring when she can get back together with her teammates.  She also has found a love of playing the piano and is excelling quickly with her Aunt ShaLiece as her teacher.

Jocelyn is still our baby. I like to tease her that she doesn’t get to grow past 7. Alas she is a 4th grader at South Elementary. She spends most of her time at friends’ houses or in the basement or backyard with neighborhood friends. I’ve never known someone who can sing as much as she can. You never have to wonder if Josie is home. If you can’t hear singing, then she isn’t around.

It has been a wonderful year for all of us. We wish you a Merry Christmas and if you are receiving this letter we look forward to the time we can see or talk with you again.

Love,

The Corry Family

Christmas Round Up of Years Past :)

So things have been a little quiet :)  You know, it is just that time of year where I enjoy lots of  family time with all things Christmas.  I have squeaked in a little stitching here and there, but school is out soon, so there won't be much more going on until the new year.   Which means, that Holiday Sale I spoke of at the end of November, will probably be a Ring In the New Year Sale now ;)  So anyhow, I wanted to still share something . . . so for today, I thought why not share a little Christmas Quilting Round-Up with some of my favorite Holiday Projects from Years Past ;)

This is Ribbons and it is a fun lap size quilt made using a Jelly Roll Race technique.  It is fantastic for a quick Christmas Quilt and there is a tutorial for it here ;)

We just love having our happy Monochromatic Stockings each year!!   My tree matches with lots of happy bright ornaments, and truly, it all just makes me smile. I did a  tutorial here for these stockings that would work in Festive Christmas Prints or Happy Monochromatic colors like mine.  My kids just love that they are on the large side ;)

This O Christmas Trees lap size quilt was a fun improv project with just a tiny bit of paper piecing.  It is a great way to introduce yourself to paper-piecing if you want to give it a try.   And I had so much fun quilting this one ;)  You can find a tutorial for it here.

This Christmas Traditions Advent Calendar is a throw back from quite a few years ago.  My children still enjoy lifting the flaps and finding a special Christmas activity to do each day of the month.  This was featured at the Moda Bake Shop and you can find the tutorial here ;)

I made up this adorable Hot Hot Chocolate Table runner a few years back and it now fits perfectly on my new kitchen counter.  I just love it and I especially love when we have our Hot Chocolate Bar each year with all the toppings in little bowls on this runner.     I made this as part of the Winter Wonderland Book tour that the mug block can be found in and the book can be found here.

Spinning or Spiraling was a Bee Block quilt from way back.  I designed the block and then had my wonderful bee mates each make a block.   It also happens to be made from my all time favorite Christmas fabric line, Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater by Moda.  I wish I could go back in time and stash a whole ton of it ;)    There is a tutorial for this quilt here.

This Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt was so much fun to make and then Barbara did her feather magic on the quilting!!!   It has now found a Happy Home under Barbara's Christmas tree :)  The design is by Fat Quarter Shop and the pattern can be found here.

Christmas Collection is another favorite, fun, fast quilt!!!  I took all my favorite basic building blocks like 4 Patch, HST, QST, and a Solid block and mixed them all up to make a fun quilt that really shows off the Festive Prints.   And it totally looks like a classic cheater print, love that!!!  There is a Free Tutorial for this quilt here ;)

And last, but certainly not least, I made this Classic Christmas quilt a few years ago and love bringing it out each year.  It is made with Christmas Figs and it combines basic patchwork stars with some simple patchwork block borders.   It really does just have that classic Christmas feel ;)   There is a Free Tutorial for this quilt here ;)

And that is my Christmas Quilting Round of years past :)   I hope you found a project that you might like to add to your Christmas Project List for years to come ;)

Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
