September was crazy busy but oh so much fun sewing fun!! I got to teach at 3 different quilting venues and had so much fun meeting so many quilting friends. But it also meant, the month whizzed by and my September Sew Sampler Box was on my doorstep in no time!! The theme for this month is Rustic Autumn and I am so loving all of it's quilty goodness!!!
I was so excited to find this gorgeous Dawn on the Prairie JR Jelly Roll!! I have sewn with everyone one of Fancy That Design House lines except this one, and now I can keep my streak going ;) An d wouldn't that Grove pattern just look so cute for another cabin quilt!! So perfect :)
And the notions for this month are great!!!! The Bits and Bobs sewing tray is so perfect for traveling. I am always telling students when I am teaching that the hard part about sewing at retreats is you don't have your designated spot for seam ripper and thread clippers. Well now, I have a travel spot!! So perfect ;) And I am excited to try out the Easy Press Pen, who doesn't love crisp, flat seams :) And of course, you know I am so excited about the Olfa Endurance Blade. It actually reminded me to change the blade in my rotary cutter and oh, I just love a new blade!! Practical is always perfect for me :) So much quilty goodness!!
And speaking of my favorite Sampler box . . . I also had a second box waiting on my doorstep!!! The Spooky Box for 2023 is now available :) I can't share what is inside yet, but it is so great ;) I have already cut out the project and can't wait to start sewing it up!! Be sure to get your Spooky Box before they Disappear for the season ;)
And there are currently some openings for Sew Sampler boxes so you can jump right in. Just sayin :)
And that is September Sew Sampler Box and a sneak peek of the Spooky Box. I am so looking forward to October's Box and getting to share my Spooky Box at the end of the month ;)

Hello Quilting Friends! Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Road Home Snuggler quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features New Designer Flannel by some of our favorite Riley Blake designers!! I absolutely love making flannel quilts, they are so soft to snuggle up in!!! So when I saw the fun "adventure" flannels, I knew they would be perfect for a Road Home Snuggler quilt for the cabin!!
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is made with one Flannel Layer Cake/10" stacker. You need all 42 squares that are 10" to get going on this quilt. And of course, you can always cut your squares from yardage :) I cut up (12) 1/3 yard cuts of this beautiful designer flannel to get the 42 squares needed to make this quilt. And once you have your 10" squares, you can go straight to sewing!!!
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is just simply large Half Square Triangles that are then put together in a random layout. Your HST's are made with two prints, so it makes the random layout work great, just giving it a fun cheater print look. And again, because it is made from flannel, it is so super soft and snuggly!!!
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is lap Size and finishes at 54" x 63" so it is the prefect size to curl up in. And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! just click here and download it :) And if you are a beginner and want some extra tips on making this quilt . . . visit this free Step by Step tutorial at my blog :) Yup, I have made this quilt lots and it is always a perfect one to whip up and snuggle in, I am glad that I can now share it as a free PDF Download pattern as well :)
When it came time to quilt mine I wanted to keep this super soft, so I opted for a rather large scale simply meandering design that I just did all over. When making flannel quilts, I like to keep the quilting super light so it doesn't take away from the flannel. And it also has the bonus of being quilted super fast!! It took me more time to load the quilt on the longarm then it did to quilt it ;)
So that is my Road Home Snuggler quilt, and now, you can make your own!!! When you are finished you can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Road Home Snuggler quilts!!
