Wrapping Up 2024

It's my favorite post of the year where I get to see what I have been up to all year ;)   2024 was another amazing year for Happy Quilting!  I have enjoyed making so many Happy Quilts and spending time here on the blog and in person with so many Happy Quilters!  This year I completed 41 Quilts and also a whole bunch of quilt tops that still need to be quilted, somehow there just aren't enough hours in the day to quilt them all.  I might need another quilting marathon in 2025 :)

41 Quilts
(there are quite a few that I can't share yet :)

And like I said, I got to spend a lot of time this year in person with lots and lots of Happy Quilters! I got the privilege of teaching and sharing  on 11 separate quilting trips!!  I was in TX, AZ, CO, UT, and even the Caribbean ;)  It truly is my favorite part of this whole quilting journey, being able so share my love of quilting with so many Happy Quilters!!

11 Teaching Trips!!

And a lot, (and I mean a ton) of time was spent at the computer this year working on Happy Quilting Patterns!!  I am so happy with the new Happy Quilting Pattern format and I am just thrilled to hear all of the wonderful feedback from all of you!!  I am just so glad you love the new patterns and their new look as much as I do.  It has been a lot of work to update so much but it has been so worth it :)   And I have already started work on 5 new patterns for 2025, so exciting!!!

5 New Happy Quilting Patterns and
 9 Updated Happy Quilting Patterns
(and 5 new patterns in the works)

And that's Happy Quilting 2024 in a nutshell!!!!

For all of the details about all of the quilts from this year, see my Quilt Archive. at the top of the page.

And I know I can't adequately put this in words, but I  just want to say a huge Thank You to all of my Happy Quilting readers!!!  You all are the best and make what I do each and every day so enjoyable.  I can't wait to share 2025 with you all ;)

So  lets say farewell to 2024, and here's looking to 2025 filled with lots and lots of  Happy Quilting!!!

Oh . . . and lets not forget . . . We need to announce the winner of the final Terrific Tuesday Giveaway Day!!!  The winner of the Christmas Bundle is . . .  #289 . . . Congrats rfrobles1.  I have messaged you.

December Sew Sampler!

I hope everyone had an amazing Holiday Season!!!  I enjoyed so much time with friends and family, and now it is time to enjoy some "happy quilting" time ;)   And of course, it helps that my December Sew Sampler Box arrived with new projects!!    This month the theme of the box is Flurries of Fun and the box is indeed filled with lots of fun to sew!!

It starts off with this oh so adorably vintage custom Rosemary Cottage Bundle by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics!!   I just love all of Camille's fabrics and  I am especially in love with that adorable mini Swoon print!!  And the Snowdrift quilt pattern is so cute!!!     Going in the To Make Someday pile for sure ;)

And the notions this month are so fun!!!  First off, I just love the 14" Project Bag from June Taylor and now I am debating if I want to use my Rosemary Cottage Bundle for that instead of Snowdrift.  Decisions, decisions :)    And I always love Cute Cuts tiny mats!!  They are so perfect for traveling and trimming and I have a collection growing for students to use in classes ;)  So great!!!   And the Pattern Holder is just ingenious.   I love when people come up with such cool little gadgets to help in my sewing room ;)

And we are month 9 of the Pieceful Basket Sampler and this months block was a few HST's that went together in to time at all  .  My Milk and Honey fabrics prints that are left are getting pretty light, but luckily they still pop on my Kona Lime Background   :)  Only 3 more blocks to go ;)

And that is December Sew Sampler Box.

Happy Quilting!!!

I've Been Pedal to the Metal!!

So here I am sharing more progress (because this Wednesday might be a little to busy to post :) and I have been going full speed ahead, Pedal to the Metal on my sewing machine ;)  Remember how I was starting work on three new quilts  . . . well, I made my goal of finishing before Christmas!!

First up , those giant stack of 4 Patches were sewn with some more 4 Patches, chopped, and then Sewn Again ;)  This new Fat Quarter Shop Short-Cut Quilt,  is just so cute and guess what, I even got it quilted!!!  I can't wait until I get to share the full reveal, but right now, I am glad it is done as it is going to be a lovely gift for a friend who loves camping and the Things Above Charm Packs  just make such a happy and bright camping quilt.

Next, I finished up my Summer Breeze Quilt Kit for my upcoming Quilting Cruise, and this one I am not planning on quilting until after the cruise, so it can just be set aside until the end of January.  So nice to know that is ready to go.   And I left this one a super loose swirl so you could see more, since it doesn't have to be a surprise ;)    Summer Breeze is just such a fun quilt to make and I am excited to get to teach it on this cruise!

And finally, my newest AccuQuilt pattern that will be released later in 2025.  Can you guess one of the BOB dies from this swirl.  It's kind of hard to see, but there are a few peeking out ;)  I had so much fun with these adorable Dainty Daisy Prints and this one will go on the long arm at the New Year as it isn't "due" until mid January.   Gotta love deadlines for keeping me on task ;)

So that is what I am working on the last few days.  I will take a break for Christmas, but I love sewing the week between Christmas and New Years so hopefully I can get some more projects started and a few old WIP's finished.

I hope you are all having a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

New Projects

So this morning I was thinking about how I am not the very best at sharing the "quilt process" and I was chalking it up to a new years resolution.  And then I thought,  why not start now.  I am always working on so many projects, and I just share the finishes . . . but why not get back to some Works in Progress (and maybe going forward on Wednesday since that is the tradition :)  So here are the new projects I am starting on . . .

First, who doesn't love a giant stack of 4 Patches!!!  These are going to be used for a new Fat Quarter Shop Short-Cut Quilt, which you know are always my favorite.  So Fun and Fast!!!   We are cutting these up in a fun way to create a new block and I can't wait.  I am using some Things Above Charm Packs  and I just love the colors and prints!!!  They are just going to make such a happy quilt!!

Next, I received my Summer Breeze Quilt Kit for my upcoming Quilting Cruise, so I need to whip up that sample to take along with me.   I won't quilt it before the cruise because it is just to bulky then to fit in my suitcase along with everything else, so I should be able to share a quilt top soon.   Summer Breeze has always been a favorite pattern of mine and I am excited to get to teach it on this cruise!

And finally, I am starting a new Pattern for my good friends at AccuQuilt!!   This one uses 2 different BOB dies and I am excited to start piecing the blocks together.  I won't be able so share more of this one for a while, but I sure do love being able to cut out all of these fun shaped pieces so quickly :)  And how adorable are those Dainty Daisy Prints, such a great basic!!

So that is what I am working on this week and am hopeful to finish up all three tops before Christmas.  Then I will be able to share some new works in progress in the new year ;)   What do you have in the works??

Wow, I really was all smiles while making this last set of  Rainbow of Ombre goodness Blocks. (see plan here)  The first of the the last three blocks was a 9" Album Star Block.  And I just love the pop of pink with all of that bright red.  So fun :)

And then, it was on to the 12: Building Blocks block.   It went together in no time at all.  I just love simply patchwork, especially when there are tiny Nine Patch blocks.  They are just so cute!!  And aren't all of those shades of pink so pretty together :)

And finally, a little orange pops up for our 12" Union Square Block.   This is such a pretty star block, totally one I want to make an entire quilt of :)  I mean, how can you not love making all of those pretty points!!

So ya, that is all of the blocks in our Piece and Quilt Sampler  Next Month it is on to the Half Square Triangle Border.  I have made some with scraps along the way but I sure have a lot more to make.  Should be lots of Half Square Triangle Fun ;)

And that's it for Month 9 - 9" Album Star, 12" Building Blocks, and 12" Union Square Blocks all in the  Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along!!!!

Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt!!!

I am so excited to get to share today!!!  We have come to the end of the Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and I know I have said it before, but, I am just loving this Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt :)

This quilt was such a joy to make!!!  I just had so much fun piecing the stars, trees, schoolhouse, and of course the letters :)   And working on it a little each week made it totally manageable because I look back now and realize, wow, that was a lot of blocks to piece for this quilt!  It finishes at 93" x 98" so it is a wonderful Queen Size quilt ;)

For my Christmas Sampler, I used three different fabric lines from Sweetwater for Moda :)   There is Hometown Christmas EditionBlizzard  and On Dasher ,(which also includes the adorable Christmas alphabet border :)  The background is POParazzi Grey Background and it has a fun pin dot that really adds some texture to the background. I just love how well the grey made all of the low volume letters just pop, as well as the all the prints for that matter ;)  Isn't it just so festive!!!

And when it came time to quilt it, I decided on an all over Swirl :)  It is always a favorite and perfect for adding lots of yummy texture and snuggly goodness.   And you can totally see that cute alphabet border in this picture.   Isn't it just perfect for this quilt!!

And speaking of the texture, I just love how it makes the alphabet just stand out all the more.  Don't they almost look like cross stitch letters :)  So cute!!   Ya, if you couldn't tell by now, I pretty much love, love, love this quilt!!  It will be my donation to the Festival of Trees next year to benefit Primary Children's Hospital as a thank you for my sweet nephew David :)

And that is my Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt!!!!    Thanks again Fat Quarter Shop, for this amazing  Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along!!!  I have loved every minute of it and I love my quilt finish so much ;)  And yes, the quilt along has now come to a close, but you can still join in the Home Town Fun :)   Just grab the  Home Town Holiday Sampler Book and some Festive Christmas Fabrics or you can just grab a HTHS Quilt Kit and off you go!   And I found it really helpful to break this one up, so you can still follow along with the Quilt Along schedule here just change the dates for when you are going to start it ;)

Now the only questions is . . . Will you make yours with a light background like the original, or a dark background like mine??  Its so cute either way, how will you decide???

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

GO! Up On The Housetop Quilt and Free Pattern!!!

I am so excited to share a new finish today!!! It's called Up On The Housetop and it just makes me so happy!!!  You all know how much I love Irish Chain Quilts . . . so when  AccuQuilt asked if I wanted to make a project using their new GO! Irish Chain BOB Die, I was all in ;)  There is a free PDF Pattern for this Up On The Housetop Quilt that you can download right here :)

Isn't it just so fun to see how AccuQuilt  posed this picture to see how festive it is just waiting by the fireplace.  I combined the GO! Irish Chain Die with the Chimney Sweep Die (hence where the name came from :) to create a fun secondary design between the chain.  And alternating the Red and Green blocks just makes it all the Christmas goodness!!

This quilt is a total scrap buster!!!   And ya know, I am always looking to bust more scraps ;)   I used Low Volume scraps in the backgrounds.   Then it was over to my Red Scrap Bin for the Chimney Sweep Blocks, and my Green Scrap Bin for the Irish Chain Blocks.   The fun thing about this, I didn't use just Christmas scraps.  Because you are breaking it up between red and green, you can use any scraps, so long as they read that color ;)   It makes for a super happy and scrappy quilt!!  Up On The Housetop finishes at 50" x 60" so it is will be a perfect lap size quilt for the Holiday Season.

And one of my favorite things about my AccuQuilt is how much faster is makes tackling scraps!!  It is just so fast to stack the scraps and then cut them all at once.  I just love it!!! .  And those Chimney Sweep Blocks go much faster without having to trim all the edges when it is done, everything just fits perfect!!    Below is a list of the dies I used, see which ones you already have in your die library and maybe add a few more ;)

And when it came time to quilt it, I went with a happy all over swirl design.  I just love all of the curves and movement it adds to this super geometric quilt. And because it is so dense, it adds so much yummy texture as well.   Just so happy for snuggling in ;)

And that is my Up On The Housetop quilt.    I am just so excited to add another Irish Chain Quilt to the mix of my favorites ;)     I hope you love it as much as I do ;)And if you want to make your own, (in your favorite color)  you can download the free PDF Up On The Housetop Pattern Here.   And when you are done I would love to see it!!!    You can share a picture on social media with #happyquiltingwithmc and tag me at @happyquiltingmc or you can always email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com.  I can't wait to see your scrappy and happy Up On The Housetop quilts!!!

Oh, and fun little side note . . . if you want to see this shared on YouTube, you can visit the Die Launch video.  It is shared towards the end of the show at 44:55 minutes in :)  It is just so fun to see your projects loved so much, just makes me smile.

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
