TNT Thursday goes Raw!!!

So what have I been trying out new???  I have been playing with a new method of applique stitching.  Raw Edge applique that is :)  I have done tons of applique but I always stitch it down with either a blanket stitch or a zig-zag stitch.  But my Name Game Swap partner had a mosiac full of Raw Edge applique so I figured it was time to try something new.  Here is a little preview with a close up of the raw edge stitching.  (I promise to show more once my partner has received it in the mail :)

And I had so much fun with the new little technique that I decided to do my Beejeebers Monopoly Block (That I showed here) applique with raw edges as well.  Which was nice because when you are stitching 1" applique pieces blanket stitch and zig zag pretty much take up the entire applique.  Raw edge worked prefect, and once again, was a lot of fun :)

So that is what I have been trying new.   How about you????  Let's see those links :)

  6. This is what i used for my name game swap as well! It was a first for me! I normally do needle turn hand applique so I was a little worried about how this would turn out!

  7. Melissa, I sure hope you are planning to show us dummies how to do this raw edge applique. I usually try the small, close sigsag (my last letter doesn't work) but it doesn't work very well so I hand applique instead. Would love to learn this technique.
    thanks

  9. You're so brave! I don't have a blog post so much to show you but I did try a new craft this week. I fell victim to the crayon art bug that's been going around! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=404406.msg4760497#msg4760497
Made a Craftster post about it. Sorry no Blogger! But I thought you might like to see because that's what this is about, right?

  10. How funny - I'm the opposite. I always do raw-edge applique but only just tried edging with zig zag the other day. I don't know why but in my mind zig zag seemed much harder than it actually was.

Just popped by your Monopoly block post - amazing!!
