Don't Mess with Success

My husband and I use this motto quite often.  However, yesterday, I didn't follow it.  And now I find myself Flickr-less.  Agghh!!!  Just what I needed in the middle of a quilt-a-long.

So here's the story . . .

I was helping my MIL upload her Tetris block into Flickr yesterday.  When we went to log in we found that she wasn't sure of her loggin info.  We played around a bit and got it all fixed up.  She wrote down her log in info and we were good to go.

Fast Forward 30 minutes.  I get home and realize, I haven't logged out of flickr in over 3 years.  I have no idea what my log-in is. I have realized this in the past as I can't log-in anywhere but my own computer. So I figure it is time to probally do something about it.

I open up flickr and go to click on Help at the top of the screen.  And in Movie Like fashion, my daughter jostles my arm for attention right as I am clicking which drags the mouse on to LOG OUT, instead of help.

Agghh!!!  I start frantically try to fix the problem.  I go through all my old files and find that I did write down my Yahoo ID forever ago.  So I use the same info to log in and Wha, Wha, Wha . . . . It is not my current flickr account.  I guess when I changed my view name it changed something about the log in.  So I am currently logged into an account with no photo stream and no groups.

I shoot off a few emails to flickr begging them to help me . . . And that is where I am at this point.  Just waiting for an email from Flickr that will hopefully say something to the effect of here is your ID, and your password, Moron!!!

So ya, it has been a week of stress related to the good old Quilting On-Line Community.  No Camera and now No Flickr.

So if I don't respond to your wonderful Tetris Quilt-A-Long pictures, please know it isn't because I don't care.  I just can't at the moment.  I will continue to try and get the problem fixed asap so I can get back on track with responding to all of your amazing photo's!!

And since every post needs a picture . . . Yes, I feel a little like this

  4. Ouch! Not a happy time!
I did a similar thing with a house security system...didn't realize that I didn't have the code...after the security alarms ringing for half an hour we finally had to cut the wires!! So at least yours is quiet LOL!

  5. This may be silly because you probably already did this but just in case did you fill out the "Google's account recovery form"?

Here is a link just in case...

    Good Luck!

  6. Don't know if it will help or not, but in Flickr your name that shows up is "Melissa @ Happy Quilting" mine is "16 Muddy Feet" so I hope that helps you out. I had to recently go through all this when I upgraded computers.

  7. Hi,
I am not positive, but I think we might be sisters separated at birth. That sounds so much like something that would happen to me. I got so sick of not being able to log in and losing passwords I have a notebook that I have written account log in and password info into for everything. I am going to copy it in case I lose this first one. Sometimes I go on to a site I am always logged into and it asks me to log in. For no reason. And I am sitting there saying . . . do you know what you are asking? Then I have to go look it up and cross my fingers. So I am feeling your pain. Trying to log into something from my phone or another computer? Fuggetaboutit. I hope my computer lives forever or I am in big trouble. And I wish I could help, but sadly I am computer challenged and am amazed I can even have a blog without ruining it!
But, on another note, it was so nice to meet you!

  10. So sorry for your problem, but glad to hear that even those who are computer savvy also have technical issues like I do everyday. Good luck fixing your flicker account.

  11. Oh what a drag that is. I'm sure you'll get it recovered, but it is frustrating to wait. I keep an excel spreadsheet of my passwords (backed up on dvd, and 2 printed copies) now cause I've done the same thing (and more than once cuz I'm a slow learner :(). I even have an old blog I gave up trying to regain access to.

  12. Hi Melissa! Do not have time to read all comments so forgive me if this possible solution has been addressed already. When you bring up the Flicker log in do you get the option to sign in with FB? And if you do, have you tried that? Just a thought. Good luck!

  13. I understand your sad situation! Flickr is one of the toughest sites to log in to again for me. I try NOT to be logged out at all but once in awhile...

  14. Oh crap, I had that problem with I had to do a cookie cleardown a couple of years ago, after which I changed the password to something I could remember!

  15. Oh gosh that's awful! Is there not an option for them to email you the password if you've forgotten it?

  16. If you have and KNOW your Yahoo login, it is probably the same.

  17. I had the same issue - then figured out it was my username @rocketmail.com. I don't even use that email - didn't know I had it - but it gets the job done.

  20. *face palm* we all do that! I deleted a bunch of great photos from my last moto ride, thought I was deleting A picture, nope - deleted the whole she-bang. Just like a quilter looking at their own work - they only see the parts they would change or hide or fix, but everyone else only sees the beauty that is the quilt (flaws and all). Remember how much you do and how much you mean to others - not just the *face palm* moments! Plus, I bet you'll remember to write everything down, whenever you change something eh?

  21. Does your browser have a place where it keeps a record of your passwords? Firefox does. You might be able to figure it out that way. Hope you are able to get it all worked out.

  22. EEk. This hurts. I have logins, passwords, etc written allover the place in a tatty book in case anyone wants to break-in to my internet viewing...it works. Like I haven't logged into Yahoo! for years but today it was needed for some blog unbelievably found it & logged in.
This doesn't help you so trust you hear/see your "lost" pages soon..
Wish I could help your frustration...my usual advice is pull the plug or now the battery out..

  23. I keep 2 secret docs. On list my passwords for things like this. The other all my financial account info. My mother has 2(one up stairs and one down) tiny address books she rights everything in.
