Back on the Long-Arm

I am so excited to be back on the long arm, finally!!  It has been like 3 weeks since I took the first quilt off.  (Ya, July has been crazy busy).  But this morning, I managed to get the new quilt on with no hiccups.  (Thank goodness I took good notes when they told us how they did it the first time, I had totally forgot).

And I was super excited to open my new Queen size batting for the occasion.  I ordered this from Quilters Dream Batting, when I called to place my order I found I  had to have a sales tax ID to order it.  So yup, Happy Quilting is now an officially licensed business.  Yippee Skippee!!

And here is the start of my mornings quilting.  Yup, this is a horrible picture taken from underneath the long arm (not much lighting down there).  I am a little wobbly starting out as I get the feel for it again, but the more I relax the easier it gets :)  And now, I am off to go quilt some more :)

Have a Happy Quilting Day,  I know I will :)

  1. That's great Melissa! I have been wanting to open an account with quilters dream as well. Is it okay if I can reach you out regarding the Tax Id thing?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I order my Quilter's Dream on the rolls thru my LQS, then I don't need the tax account - nice of them to do that for me.

  10. How exciting! We all know the right tools for quilting make all the difference --- the same is true for Longarming.
My best tip for longarming is go for the TerylLoy.com rulers and templates. They are 3/8" thick and that little thicker bit makes all the difference. Also, the Basic 8 stencil, small & large, are used here everyday.
    Have fun!

  11. What kind of long arm do you have? What do you like best about it?

    1. This is my MIL's Long Arm and it is a Avante HQ 16. She hasn't had it for long so I can't say to much about it yet, but I am really enjoying it so far. It has been very user friendly, and I love that the leaders are velcro so you can sew your quilt tops to them instead of pinning. Saves so much time!
