Cottage Stamp Baby Quilt and Tutorial

Well it's my day again as a Riley Blake Design Team member and I have something super fun to share today ;)  And here she is . . The Cottage Stamp Baby Quilt :)  The full step-by-step tutorial can be found right here at the Riley Blake Blog ;)

I fell in love with The Cottage Garden by The Quilted Fish at spring market and knew I had to make a quilt with it.  The colors and prints are just fabulous.  Seriously, I loved reading the text print anytime I was sewing with it, the quotes are awesome!!!

I decided to do a spin on a postage stamp quilt, adding sashing and some applique to make it pop :)  The quilt really is easy and goes together in a snap with very minimal cutting ;)

A close up on the applique ;)  I quilted dense loops around it to really make it stand out and then added the adorable stitched button to give it that finishing touch ;)  Love it!!

And to add to the "postage stamp" concept, I quilted each of the blocks with a scallop border and a different flower in the center.  I think it turned out pretty cute ;)

The quilt finishes at 55 1/2" x 55 1/2", perfect for wrapping up a wee one or even a toddler ;)  I have one here that wants to claim this one ;)    So if you have someone special you want to make a Cottage Stamp quilt for just pop on over to the Riley Blake Blog for the full step-by-step tutorial :)

I hope you like the quilt and enjoy the tutorial ;)  It really was such a fun and fast quilt to make :)

Have a Happy Quilting Day!!!

  2. I love it! I'm adding this one on my short list of quilts to make. ;) I really like the appliqué flowers. This might be my reason to give appliqué a try.

  9. It's cute and colorful - but it's not a true "Postage Stamp" quilt.

  10. Lovely quilt. But please don't put buttons on a quilt for babies. Too much danger of them coming off and going into the mouth. Thanks.
