So a little while ago, Jessica (my oldest daughter) decided she wanted a new look to her bedroom. So with Grandma's help, we picked out a color called Pool and painted the room. And once the room was painted "pool" , she decided she was all in to the Coastal decorated room idea. Grandma and her went' directly to the store and found some cute accessories and a beautiful costal picture to go above her bed. And with everything redecorated, my sweet Jessi noticed something amiss. The quilt just doesn't match anymore. You see where this is going . . . Yup, new Quilt and matching pillows are now on the To Do list ;) So we went through the Stash and found these beautiful Kona Solids the new decor. And all she had to do was pick a design for her bed.

New Projects for Jessi's Room
And after some "googling" this is what she landed on. Here I though she was googling this Happy Quilting page and was going to pick a pattern that I have already made, nope :) Instead, I get to do an improve curve queen side quilt!! So ya, I might be processing this for just a bit. I think I can use the same method I used for this table runner, just on a way bigger scale. How funny is it going to be to have 5 cutting mats lined up, long enough to cut those improv cures on (tee hee hee)
And with the bed plan, it was time to move onto the pillows. Jessi said she didn't want everything Improv Curves because it is just to much, so I suggested something more Nautical which she liked and wouldn't you know what I got in my email the next day . . . . AccuQuilt is doing a new launch for their amazing Mariner's Compass die. I showed Jessi and she loved it, could this be more perfect!!!!
So of course, we immediately went to EQ8, found a Mariner's Compass block in the library, and started sketching up color layout ideas. And I can tell already, this is where the hard part is going to be. How to decide which layout to do??? Do you have a favorite, or maybe a favorite pair??
So my Mariner's Compass BOB die is on the way, and I can't wait for it to arrive so we can start making up some decorative pillows. And my hope is with the pillows made, I will have more motivation to tackle the quilt ;) Wish me luck!

Changing a room.... I love doing it! Have fun and ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so pretty. For the mariner star mock-up , I was originally leaning toward the one with the slate background, but the more I though about it the more I like the idea of a white background and background circle. Then build up your star from the back to the front, going from darkest to lightest fabric. I think the stars will just float.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to have daughters but the older they get the more they have their own ideas which they would then like mom to create. My 29 year old recently made a request and added quickly 'you're mom, you can make anything.' I love the colour choices and the mariner's compass will be perfect.
ReplyDeletethis sounds like a blast.
ReplyDeleteThat’s going to be a beautiful quilt!!! Love the colors!!! Please post pictures of the finished room!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Compass with the four front star points in peach and the navy center. Did you ask her which she prefers?
