Charming Totes from Charming Young Women

I am so excited to share these finishes today and you'll see why in a minute ;)    I am so very blessed to get to work with the Young Women in our church. They are incredible girls and oh so much fun to hang out with.    One night a month, for a good portion of this year, I have been teaching them how to make Charming Totes.  I let each girl pick out a charm pack from my stash and it was super fun to see which fabrics each girl gravitated towards.   Then came the cutting, stitching, and quilting!!   This was a huge project for a lot of them who weren't really familiar with sewing machines, but they jumped in with both feet and even tried out the long arm for their quilting!!!

I wish I would have recorded some of the nights so you could all see the "organized chaos" that was each night at the quilt house.  Think 10 machines running, 15 or so girls sewing/laughing, "a bit" of unpicking and a whole lot of fun :)  So ya, there is a whole lot to smile about in these awesome finishes ;)  And I want to give each girl her moment in the spotlight, so here they are!!!!

Cooper used Ava Rose by Deanna Rutter for Riley Blake Designs

Nicole used Shimmer by  Jennifer Sampou for Robert Kaufman

Bailee used You and Me for Adorn It

Jessica (that's my daughter :) used Eden by Tula Pink for Free Spirit Fabrics

Atlanta used Cotton + Steel Basics for Cotton + Steel

Emily used Mormor by Lotta Jansdotter for Windham Fabrics

Katelyn used Spot on for Robert Kaufman

Ellyce used Ashton Road by Valori Wells for Robert Kaufman

Hannah E. used Desert Bloom by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs

Hannah B. used Offshore by Deanna Rutter for Riley Blake Designs

Natalie used Sundrops by Corey Yoder for Moda

Lindsey also used Desert Bloom by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs

Chole used a line that I just can't remember.  I think it might be a Sandy Gervais??  Anyone??

Serenity used Varsity by Sweetwater for Moda

Zoe F. used Simply Colorful II by Vanessa Christenson for Moda

Breanna also used Ava Rose by Deanna Rutter for Riley Blake Designs

and Zoe A. used Curiosities by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs

And aren't they all just great!!!  I am so very proud of each one of them, and am so glad they they just love their finished totes!!!!  I see them using them and it just makes me smile :)    Way to go girls!!!

And just FYI,  if you want to make your own Charming Tote, I have a free Step by Step tutorial right over here ;)  You just need a Charm Pack and 2/3 yard of fabric to start!!  They are so much fun to make and are wonderful Christmas presents.  But I am warning you, you can't stop at making just 1 :)

Thanks for popping in today and sharing these amazing finishes from these amazing Young Women!!!   I can't even begin to express how much I loved working on these totes with them ;)  What a wonderful experience that I will treasure!!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up these finishes to Amanda's, Sarah's, and Myra's ;)

3 Kings

So yesterday,  as I was going through and tidying up my quilt room a bit, I looked over at my stack of "to be quilted tops" and realized that I have 3 King Quilt tops that are waiting to be quilted.  Yes, 3 Kings!!!!  That is a whole lot of quilting :)  But two have been waiting around for a while and one needs to be done like pronto, so I made the goal (probably crazy but I am going to give it my best shot) to finish quilting all three of these 3 Kings by the end of the year!!!

Of course, there is my Roundabout Quilt Along Quilt that the parade is for next Wednesday.  I really want to try and get this done for the Parade,  I am so excited about how the quilt top came together and know it is going to be so fun to quilt!!!  And then I can't wait to give it to my Twin Sister for her bed, so fun!!!

And then after that, I really want to get this King Size Hunter Star done.  I don't think I have ever shown any pictures of this (my bad) but my bee friends made the blocks for me last year and I finally sewed them together.  It uses my Hunter Star pattern from the I Love Stars Book and will be a new bed spread for our master bedroom.   I am hoping to try and get this one done before Christmas as a special present for my sweetheart.  He is loving the idea of the  Deer from Joel Dewberry's Birch Farm line gracing the new quilt ;)

And finally, I am sad to say, I still haven't quilted my Splendid Sampler quilt.  Crazy right!!!  I spent all of 2016 making the blocks, had it all pieced together in May, and still have not managed to get this big boy quilted!!!   But, I really want to finish it this year, so it is part of the 3 Kings goal ;)

I have a plan for all 3 quilts and they all include some custom quilting, so I best get quilting ;)

Wish me Luck :)

#LightTheWorld

It's December!!!!   Wow, how did that happen so fast ;)  Just like last year, I am excited to once again participate in the #LIGHTtheWORLD campaign,  and experience the joy of this Christmas season by focusing on sharing the light of Christ and Christmas each day leading up to December 25th.

If you would like to participate in this event as well, You can watch the informational #LIGHTtheWORLD video above,
go here to see more videos and details, and  print off a "In 25 Ways over 25 Days" Advent Calendar that provides suggestions each day on how you can help to #LIGHTtheWORLD this Christmas season.  It just warms my heart to think of people of all faiths,  from all over the world,  coming together to make our world better.

Wishing you Joy and Peace this Holiday Season!!!

Chuckles Quilt

Well, my sweet little nephew Carson, decided to give his parents something to be especially grateful for on Thanksgiving by arriving  3 weeks early on that morning ;)   He is such a cutie, just an adorable little peanut!!!   And now, I get to share his quilt!!  You might remember the quilt top from here, funny how fast time flies :)     But here it is in all of it's finished goodness, the Chuckles Quilt!!!

This is a pattern that Elizabeth Hartman did exclusively for the August Sew Sampler box, and I fell in love with the pattern and her Reef fabric right away and knew that I wanted to make it up for my little nephew ;)  How cute are those adorable little fishes!!!

And I just love the way the fish are offset.  I tend to always design in symmetrical, I think it is the accountant part of my brain, but I just love the way these fish look to be swimming in a school :)

And since they needed to be swimming, I decided to quilt them some waves!!!  I just did some free motion continuous arches and repeated row after row.  I didn't worry to much where there points came up as I wanted it to feel pretty organic, and I just love the way it turned out.   I used Fantastico Dapper, a blue/black/grey variegated thread, and just love the little bit of shimmer it gives the quilting.

And that is my finished Chuckles quilt.  And now it is hanging on Carson's wall above his crib, waiting for him to get a wee bit older so he can see those cute little fish swimming away :)   I just love making baby quilts!!!  They are so fun to make and even more fun to give to sweet little angels!!!

Makes me want to go start another one :)

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
