3 Kings

So yesterday,  as I was going through and tidying up my quilt room a bit, I looked over at my stack of "to be quilted tops" and realized that I have 3 King Quilt tops that are waiting to be quilted.  Yes, 3 Kings!!!!  That is a whole lot of quilting :)  But two have been waiting around for a while and one needs to be done like pronto, so I made the goal (probably crazy but I am going to give it my best shot) to finish quilting all three of these 3 Kings by the end of the year!!!

Of course, there is my Roundabout Quilt Along Quilt that the parade is for next Wednesday.  I really want to try and get this done for the Parade,  I am so excited about how the quilt top came together and know it is going to be so fun to quilt!!!  And then I can't wait to give it to my Twin Sister for her bed, so fun!!!

And then after that, I really want to get this King Size Hunter Star done.  I don't think I have ever shown any pictures of this (my bad) but my bee friends made the blocks for me last year and I finally sewed them together.  It uses my Hunter Star pattern from the I Love Stars Book and will be a new bed spread for our master bedroom.   I am hoping to try and get this one done before Christmas as a special present for my sweetheart.  He is loving the idea of the  Deer from Joel Dewberry's Birch Farm line gracing the new quilt ;)

And finally, I am sad to say, I still haven't quilted my Splendid Sampler quilt.  Crazy right!!!  I spent all of 2016 making the blocks, had it all pieced together in May, and still have not managed to get this big boy quilted!!!   But, I really want to finish it this year, so it is part of the 3 Kings goal ;)

I have a plan for all 3 quilts and they all include some custom quilting, so I best get quilting ;)

Wish me Luck :)

  1. Impressive you quilt on a domestic sewing machine or a long arm?

  2. Each of these is so special in its own way - can't wait to see them!

  3. Wow! Good luck on your aggressive goal. I made a queen size Hunter's Star last year as a wedding gift for my daughter and SIL. I see yours is constructed quite differently but looks the same finished.

  4. Lordy, lordy, lordy! Good luck! I hope you finish them all.

  5. Wow, Melissa!! I so admire your determination! You can do it, Girl!! What a hreat feeling you will have when they are done! I bet you'll feel 10 lbs lighter!! Hee hee!!! 💪🏻👍🏻🍀

  6. Seems like an excellent time of year for 3 kings and a miracle. ;-) Good luck!

  7. Can’t wait to see how you quilt these!

  8. Hello everyone. My name is Kellie and I was wondering if I could get some advice and/or suggestions on a quilt that I am planning on starting after Christmas? I'm a confident beginner quilter and I'm a horse crazy gal. Lol. I have loads of horse fabric but I have not been able to think of a pattern for my quilt. I have 2 or 3 panels but I was not planning on putting all of them on one quilt. I have fleece horse fabric for the backing but I need some help on doing the top of the quilt. I would very much appreciate any advice or suggestions that I could get from any of y'all. Thank you so much in advance. Kellie.

    1. Hi Kellie,

When working with panels, I just like to add borders. You can do patchwork borders or straight borders :) If you search Panel Quilts you can get a lot of images to help give you an idea of where you want to go with the design ;)

  9. Pretty industrious goal, considering that it is december! :-) And how are you going to quilt the Round-About? I'm feeling stumped on it. Hugs, H

  10. Ambitious, but I think you can do it! You go, girl!

  11. Wow Melissa! You’re fabulous and all 3 King’s are quite special to you and the recipient(s). Happy Quilting and I’ll see you at the RoundAbout parade . Just started quilting mine this AM:)

  12. Well this is a huge goal knowing all holidays things that need to do... I have just binding to do for my Splendid Sampler

Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I just love hearing from you!!
Have a Happy Quilting Day :)
