January Sew Sampler Box!!!

It's the end of January already, wow, where did that month go!!!  The one wonderful thing about another month come and gone, is that it means another lovely blue box in my mailbox!!!   This month's theme is Butterfly Kisses and this Sew Sampler box  is filled with all kinds of adorable goodness!!!

I can't get over how adorable this Butterflies and Berries 10" Stacker by Riley Blake Designs is!!!  I just love those sweet colors and the prints are oh so cute!!!  The Flitter exclusive sew sampler pattern is equally adorable, and I have already had 2 little girls ask if I will make them the Butterfly quilt they saw in my blue box . . . yes, my girls have come to realize that the blue box is just as fun for them to go through as it is for mom ;)   Looks like I will be adding this quilt to my To Make List ;)

And I just love these to cute for words Just Pins!!!  And wouldn't you know, they go just perfect with my Tuffet that I finished last week!!!!!   Don't they just look like I totally picked this fabric to go with the pins ;)  Just Pins has a whole assortment of these hand crafted pins and I can totally see myself collecting more of them to adorn my Tuffet, especially that cute little cupcake one!!!

And this month had a whole assortment of notions that I am just so excited about!!!  I absolutly love Lori Holt's Cute Cuts rulers and so I was super excited to find the 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" ruler in this months box!!!  It will be just perfect for cutting HST's in half :)   And the Needle Carry Card  was just what I needed.  I actually had to do some handwork when I was making my Tuffet and I had to go to the garage to get some pliers to get the needle out of the package it came in.  When I saw this little card, I immediately switched all of my hand needles to it!!!  And finally, those to cute Bee in my Bonnet Bandages!!!  This is something that I would never buy for myself, but I am so excited for!!  Every time I teach, someone always needs a bandage.  Most of the time it is just little pin sticks or even paper cuts from the pattern, but how fun will it be to give them a Sewing Bandage instead of a regular ole brown one.   Just to cute!!!

And last but certainly not least,  this month's Basket Block!!!   Block 10 and I am just loving these.  This is the first time where I used the background color in the print color as well and I really like it.  I might just be doing that for the remaining 2 blocks :)   And can you believe it, 2 more blocks and it will be time to sew up another quilt top.  So fun!!!

And that is my January Sew Sampler Box  . . . and I just love it!!!  I don't know how Fat Quarter Shop just keeps managing to send me so many wonderful things.  And I love that so many of them are things that I wouldn't think to get myself, but are such wonderful little treats just for me :)   What can I say, I just love when my little blue box arrives :)

I am off to work on my upcoming Moda Bake Shop tutorial ;)  I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!!

Spelling Bee Saturday - M is for Measure

It's another Spelling Bee Saturday and this one is a fun one because the Letter M is another one of my assigned weeks to share as part of the Spelling Bee Sew Along!!!   And I am thrilled because I am absolutely love this amazing Spelling Bee Book  by Lori Holt.  She makes piecing so fun and easy and I am just loving how my two alphabets are coming together ;)

This Spelling Bee Saturday is brought to you by the Letter M.   I originally signed up to do the letter M (and I also did C)  because that's the letters in my initials :)   But as I was piecing this M, and pulling out all my  Lori Holt Cute Cuts Rulers  to cut all those tiny pieces, I thought M is way more about Measuring in these blocks!!!  So ya, M is for Measure!!!

And if you have been following along with my Spelling Bee Saturday posts, you know I am making two sets of each letter ;)   And I am thrilled to say, that I am all caught up with my letters, and half way through the alphabet, not to shabby!!  I did miss a few picture blocks, but my goal is to get those made this week so that I will be totally caught up :)

And I tell you what, I am just so glad I joined in this fun QAL!!!!  I am having so much fun with all of this piecing and  I just am so excited about these quilts!!!  Every time I see this cover, I just squeal at how totally cute these quilts are going to turn out and how perfect they will be as a special thank you for some very special people!!!

And it's not to late to join in the Spelling Bee fun!!!  Trust me, once you start sewing these you can't stop and you can catch up (just like me) in no time ;)    Grab a Spelling Bee book and get measuring, cutting, stitching and smiling!!!  . And you have lots of help keeping up as there are fun blogger's every Saturday sharing their Spelling Bee blocks as well :)

See ya next week with the letter O and hopefully those few picture blocks I need to catch up on!!!!

It's Finished And It's So Cute!!!!

EEekk, I am so excited!!!    I finished my Tuffet and I just love it :)   I have been sharing my Tuffet Progress over the last few weeks here, here, and here.   You could totally make one of these in a day, but I have loved having it as a fun little project to work on when I have a few minutes here and there.  And now that it is all done, I just can't get over how cute it is!!!

I think my favorite part is looking at it from the top :)   I just love seeing all of those adorable fabrics come together into a tight gathered center.  And the polka-dot button center, so cute!!!  This is the 8" Tuffet I made with this Tuffet Kit, and I had so much fun with it, it really has me wanting to make one of the big ones!!!

From the last time I shared my progress, all I had left to finish was the bottom.  I painted the legs in a happy red, and then added the same red polka-dot print to cover the base.  You stable the cover on, and then add a little decorative trim to cover the staples.  I was planning on adding red ric-rac, but when I went to my trim bag I realized I was all out.   But I saw this little gold trim and thought it would make a fun little pop of surprise on the bottom.

And I have to say, my daughter's are already trying to claim my Tuffet for their 18" dolls.  It makes a perfect sized seat for them.   But I told them sorry, I will have to do another Tuffet Kit for their dolls because . . .

This Tuffet is all about being a giant pincushion!!!!   I plan to keep it at the quilt house to sit on the table of 4 sewing machines.  How cute will it be centered between them all and make for a perfectly adorable pin storage for everyone :)

I am so glad I decided to treat myself with this little Christmas Present ;)  I really have had so much fun making this up and I am just thrilled with the way it all came together!!!     I can  see myself getting one for Christmas for many years, well at least 3 since I have 3 girls that really want their own now :)   And thanks for following along with me as I put this little Tuffet together ;)

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up this finish to Amanda's, Sarah's, and Myra's :)

Clementine Quilt Along - Watermelon Wheel

It's the 25th and that means it is the start of the Clementine Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop!!!!  Today I am so excited to share the first set of  blocks!!!  These first set of blocks are called the Watermelon Wheel blocks and they are just so much fun to piece!!!!  Look at all of those fun points and I just love all of the movement ;)

Each month, for the next 6 months, there will be two blocks to make.  They are the same block design, but one is a wonderfully larger 12" block that is great to piece and goes together in a snap.  And the second is a super cute 6" block that is wonderful for building technique of piecing with smaller sizes :)   They are both just so fun to make!!!

So are you joining in the Clementine fun???  If so, you can download the block pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital  :)  This is Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL that is raising funds for an amazing organization that is leading the way in understanding, treating, and working to defeat childhood cancer.  What a wonderful way for us all to make a difference !!   And Fat Quarter Shop and Moda will match up to $20,000 of the donations raised.  So let's help them reach that goal ;)

This year it is all about Fat Quarters for this Quilt Along and after some playing around in my stash, I decided to use Farmer's Daughter by Lella Botique for Moda and I just love the chic colors and prints!!!  I have already gone through and paired my fabrics into groups of four for each month, so excited!!!   If you are quilting along and want to use the original Mama's Cottage fabrics you can find a Quilt Along Kit right over here, or if you want to pick a different fabric like me, you just need 24 Fat Quarters, an accent fabric and some background fabric ;)    You can find the Fabric Requirements here ;)

And like always, Fat Quarter Shop has made awesome  You Tube video tutorials that walk you through making each month's blocks.  There are some great helpful hints and you can see it put together step by step!!!

Be sure to share all of your Clementine progress on social media with #clementinequiltalong and check out these fabulous bloggers who are quilting along for some Watermelon Wheel block inspiration :)

Sick Slow Down

So Friday afternoon I posted this picture on Instagram and wrote how excited I was that at this rate, I really was going to be able to manage getting this quilted and bound before my class this week!!!

And Friday evening I had some extra tidbits of time and managed to get the blocks sewn together and the final pieced border on!!!  Isn't it just so fun!!!    I was so excited.    The quilt top was finished, I had the binding cut and ready to press, and the backing picked out so that first thing Saturday morning I could get this on the long arm and finished up.

And then Friday night it hit me.  The Flu!!!  Boo to the Flu!!!  I was down for the count all day Saturday and Sunday.  I am feeling a bit better today, and thought about quilting this,  but my sweet husband reminded me that if I plan to be up and on my feet teaching on Tuesday and Wednesday I best take it easy today.  And of course, he's right.  So I guess this will just be a quilt top for show :)  Oh well, sometimes life just goes that way.   I am just reminding myself to be grateful that I can get out of bed today, because it would have been really bad timing if it was two days later :)

So since I didn't get anything done this weekend, how about you tell me what you worked on???  Any fun projects for your weekend sewing??

Lone Star and Sewing Started!!!

This Month in our Bees Knees group my good friend Corey asked us to make a Lone Star block using this tutorial that takes out the Y seams and uses triangles instead.  So awesome!!!   She sent us some of her gorgeous prints from her past collections and some Moda Cross-weave background, so pretty :)  I had so much fun making this block!!!  I always love a block that challenges me with lots of  points to line up, and these points were even matched on the angle, so great!!!    And I have to say, I am pretty proud of how it all came together, and you know I totally want to make an entire quilt of these now!!!

And after I finished sewing my bee block, I read through your wonderful and very helpful comments (thanks so much for that!!!)  from yesterday and came to a decision.  I am going with the black background!!!   I really do love how it makes the colors pop and it is indeed something New to try, which is always fun.   As was mentioned in the comments, I was a little worried about the darker blue otter print showing up on the black, but after looking at it right next to it, I decided there is enough contrast.  And once it is all sewn together, if it blends to much my backup plan is to stitch around that particular block (it will be the center) in a gold thread to make it stand out more ;)  So now, I am off to the machine to get these Flying Geese started!!

I hope you are having a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
