Double Plus Bee Blocks

The Bees Knees are back in full swing again, and this month Nedra asked us to make some adorable Double Plus Blocks.    And my goodness, they were so fun and so fast.   And you know, I totally love those low volume backgrounds!!

And like most bee blocks, I now totally want to make an entire quilt of these!!!  It would be a great way to burn through some scraps.  And truly, so much fun to make!!!   They are in the mail Nedra and I can't wait to see how your quilt comes together!!!

And speaking of quilts coming together, September was my month for the Bees Knees, and I asked my amazing bee mates to make blocks from my Moroccan Lullaby pattern, but this time, with low volume backgrounds!!!  I am just so loving the low volumes right now, and these prints a combination of fabrics from 3 different Corey Yoder lines, and it is so fun to see it coming together.  I can't wait for the last few blocks so I can get this all sewn up!!!

So how about you??  Have you sewn in a Bee???  And if so, are you like me and keep adding to the "to make someday" list each and every month :)

Dessert Sampler - Block 3!!

I have been working on quilting and binding a stack of quilt tops over the last few days, which is always so fun!!!  And since I still wanted to do a little piecing in all of that quilting time, I squeezed in a little Dessert Sampler block goodness and made block 3!!! And this block has purple!!!!   Love it!!!

And, thanks to the super fast cupcake papers,  I already have a good amount of piecing done on the 4th block!!  It should be pieced together soon :)  , It is just so fun to have  this project  that I can work on here and there ;)  I am so loving it!!!

Although I have to admit, I keep getting tempted to sit down and cut out all the blocks so that I can sew them together assemble line and see all of this figgy goodness come together.   But I keep reminding myself that this is not that kind of project.  Well see if I can hold out to this one block at a time for the entire project ;)

3 New Charming Totes

So along with the quilt that was auctioned off for a church fundraiser that I shared back here, I decided to make a few new Charming Totes as well to help in the cause.  These are so much fun to make and are the perfect size tote for just about everything.  The only hard part was deciding on which Charm packs to use ;)

The first tote I decided on a Flower Mill Charm Pack by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics.   I love these happy prints and beautiful colors and I opted for a little more free motion quilting on the totes this time around and did a lovely loose feather.  I love the little extra it adds to the tote ;)  I also decided to fold the lining over just slightly on the top to add a little "faux binding" on the top of the bag.  I like it, but it did make the handles a bit shorter as they had to be stitched down as well.  So if I did that again, I would add an inch to the handles ;)

For the second tote for auction, I used an Into the Garden Pack by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs.   I have been saving this one for a bit, and it was just perfect for this little tote.   And I added some more flower whimsy with a feathered swirl free motion quilting design.   Both totes were a big hit at the auction and I have already seen them being toted along with the ladies who won them.  Which, of course,  just makes me smile ;)

And while I was in the tote making assembly line process, I decided that I needed a new tote for Church as well.  And I was so excited to find that Deanna Rutter's Heart and Soul Charm Pack for Riley Blake Designs had a text print that listed the Young Women values.  Since I work with the Young Women each week, it couldn't have been more perfect!!!

And this tote got a little extra love, since I was so needing these little extra features in my old tote.   Padded Handles, Pockets, and most importantly, key rings!!!!  No more digging around in the bottom of my bag to find where my keys have gone ;)   So loving it!!!

And if you find yourself needing a Charming Tote, you can find the tutorial to make your own right over here.   They really are so much fun to make, and trust me, you won't be able to make just one.   But I am telling you, the hardest part is just picking which Charm Pack to use ;)

Happy Quilting!!!

Playground Picnic - New Finishes and a New Pattern

I am super excited this morning to share my newest Quilt Pattern in the Happy Quilting pattern lineup ;)   It is called Playground Picnic and I just love it!!!   I was able to teach this pattern a few weeks ago in a class and it was a fun time for everyone, beginners and experts alike and they go a whole lot of blocks made.  So fantastic!!!

The pattern can be found  found in my Etsy Shop,  and like all my new Pattern Releases, It is on Special!!!!  This week Playground Picnic will be marked down to $5.50!!! After that, it will be marked at the regular pattern price of $8.50 :)

The super fun thing about this pattern, is that the blocks are pieced on point.  I know right, they don't look on point.  But that is the beauty of it.  They are pieced on point, and then trimmed, with very little waste, so you will still be able to get those perfect points every time!!!   So great :)

This version of Playground Picnic is made up using Clover Hollow by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda Fabrics.    It was the perfect fabric, as Sherri and Chelsi  designed their fabrics to really read one color, and that allowed each block to pop!!!  You see every little bit of the piecing, and I just love that!!

And when it came time to quilt it I went with an all over Swirl with an open center.   I love how this designs add so much movement, and all of those beautiful swirls soften all of those wonderful angles.  And my Pearl 402 So Fine thread blended perfectly with all of these colors.  It really is my go to quilting color ;)

And that is my new Playground Picnic quilt!!!!  I am just head over heals with this finish and am so excited to be able to share this design in pattern form.   So let me tell you a bit more about the pattern ;)

Like all my patterns, Playground Picnic has size options so you can make the quilt size that fits you ;)  You will find 5 size options, a Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin, and a Queen size.  The block really does piece together quickly, so even if you are making the queen size, you aren't going to get bogged down in this project :)

And this quilt is Fat Quarter friendly, so it is super easy to grab a bundle (like the Clover Hollow one I used) and get going.   I also included a second Fabric option in the pattern for Yardage or Scrappy layout.   And I wanted to try out the scrappy version, so I whipped up this adorable Baby Size scrappy version of Playground Picnic as well.

I just used a Navy for the background, and then cut all of my print fabrics in wonderful scraps all from my Yellow Bin.    Isn't it just so fun!!!  I love how all of those scrappy prints just blend together to make a seemingly two color quilt.   Just perfect!!!

And the pattern makes it super easy to know exactly how much to cut from your scraps to make this go together super quick while doing some serious scrap busting.  Yippee!!!

I quilted this version of Playground Picnic in an all over echoed paisley design.   And I used Navy thread and love the way it pops on the yellow.   And if you like this design, I have a video tutorial here on how I do it ;)

And that's the second Playground Picnic.    And both options are in the pattern!!!  And just like all my patterns, this is a full color pattern that can be printed in either page format or book format.  It is filled with lots of wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun putting this together ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to email me ;)

And those are my new Playground Picnic quilts and the new Playground Picnic pattern!!!!  Again, the pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop and will be on special for $5.50 all this week ;)

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up these Quilt Finishes to Amanda's, Sarah's, and Myra's :)
