Bee Block Catch Up

I didn't have to much to catch up on, mostly July because honestly, what happened to that month??  So how about some fun bee blocks ;)

First up , some super tiny wonky star blocks ;)   These are actually part of the MQG project where several individual MQG Members are paired up to make a quilt to hang at Quilt Con.  Our group decided on wonky stars, and let me tell you, there is no exaggeration when I say these are tiny.  As in, they will finish at 2" and 2 1/4", so each of those squares in the nine patch are less than 3/4" ;)   And I know it is absolutely crazy to admit, but I actually have a whole lot of fun doing this mini piecing, I just find it so rewarding to come out with those little baby stars when I am done.   Oh, and if you are wondering how I make my Wonky Stars, you can see my Wonky Star Tutorial right here ;)   (and no, you don't have to make them this small, the tutorial covers all sizes ;)

Next up, Kim asked us to make some Spell it with Moda Blocks for her August month.  I have made one and two , Spell It With Moda Quilts, and just love making up these letters.

In fact, I  had so much fun with these , I think it might be time to add another Spell It With Moda quilt to the list ;)

And finally, the other behind block. In July,  Stephanie asked us to make this awesome Tone It Down block that Lissa Alexandar brought back in a quilt along with All People Quilt in 2013.  I have wanted to make one of these quilts ever since, all of that wonderful low volume background is so fantastic!!!    And I have to say, even with all of those tiny pieces, I absolutely loved making this block and it went together a lot faster than I had expected it to.    This quilt has way moved up the list of quilts to make ;)    And then of course, as I was editing the photo to post it here, I realized that ya, I totally misplaced 2 of my 9 patches, and of course it is already in the mail.   I am sorry Stephanie that you will have to take out that row.   I have no idea how I didn't notice it sooner.  Ah well, gotta keep it real right ;)

And now I am all caught up and feeling great.  Can't wait for September's block to arrive (Although I have a few deadlines before then, so don't arrive to quickly :)

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

  1. Great blocks, and I've made that painful "twist" on that block my self!! :-) yep, sometimes we don't see how we missed it! LOL! Love that red floral in that block though: do you know what line that came from? And I hope August allows you to breathe a little, tough I know it is going to be busy with getting the kids ready for school. Maybe you can breathe in Sept!! :-) Hugs to you my friend!!

  2. I love it when people show their human side. :) It's still a really cute block even with the switched 9 patches!
