I know my Splendid Saturday's are a bit behind, (I plan to catch up soon ;) but I have been working on a different Splendid Sampler project. I am super excited to share the newest Splendid Bonus Block with you all today that I got to design!!! September is Back To School Month and when Pat asked if I could come up with a Bonus Block for the Splendid Sampler to represent Back To School I just knew I had to go with ABC's & 123's. Doesn't it look just like one of those mini chalkboards from the time of Little House on the Prairie. So cute!!!
This years back to school has been a little bittersweet for me because for the first time ever, all 5 of my children are attending school. My 2 middle schoolers, Spencer and Jessica, leave early in the morning, followed by my two elementary schoolers, Kristian and Kamryn. And now, Jocelyn is old enough to join the ranks of her school siblings and is attending preschool!!! The sweet, 2 1/2 hours of total uninterrupted silence each day that I hopefully get to sew up a storm in. The bitter, 2 1/2 hours of total silence where I don't get to hear my baby girls chitter chatter as I sew up a storm :) Guess we are all growing up!!!
So if you are sewing along with The Splendid Sampler, be sure to pop on over and get the newest bonus block pattern, Back to School. I can't wait to see all of your fun blocks!!!
Happy Quilting!!!!
thank you for the adorable Bonus block this month!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melissa; just turn up the radio and sew, sew, sew!
ReplyDeleteAdorable Bonus Block! I remember when my youngest went to school - I felt lost at first - that was 24 years ago - but I still remember and know how you feel :)!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm just totally impressed that a mom of five kids ever has time to sew anything, regardless of whether they're in school!
ReplyDeleteThe bonus block is pretty nice and your kids are adorable!
ReplyDeleteFun block, and your littlest one looks so cute and so HAPPY to be going to school like her big brothers and sisters!! I remember the day I sent my youngest to Kindergarten and as the door shut, I wondered what to do: That lasted about 15 minutes!!! :-) Have fun in your 2.5 hours Mommy!! Hugs, H
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a cute block. I hope your children have a fabulous year at school. My kiddo's are all grown with their children ranging from college age to kindergarten. So I get to see pictures of the grands going off to school. They all grow up really fast! It amazes me that you do what you do with FIVE youngsters at home!
