ReplyDeleteI have worked with wovens on a baby quilt, the different textures in each of the fabrics I used worked great together! Some soft, some grainy, some heavier and some more coarse. Great for tummy time adventure!

ReplyDeleteI've made a quilt out of wovens for my son's high school chum. When the boys came down to my sewing hole seeking permission to take the car, Dylan exclaimed, "You're making a quilt! Will you make me one?" Wow, he knew what I was doing, so I promised him one. Four years later, he got it. Such a great kid!

When I made my second quilt, a Turning Twenty, one of the fat quarters was a woven. That went well but I haven't quilted with woven since, for no special reason.

ReplyDeleteYes, I have worked with wovens. I really like the textures AND I love that both sides of the fabric are useable! I actually spent more than a year collection homespun wovens to make a quilt for my brother-in-law. I backed it with denim. It was perfect for him.

DeleteI have worked with a lot of wovens. My son and I did some sewing and selling of Civil War mens outfits. My son did the pants and jackets and I did the shirts, vests and drawers. I was able to find a lot of woven's that worked well as accurate civil war fabrics for shirts. My daughter in law now does this with my son. They are very widely known.

I haven't worked with woven fabric for a long time. When I was first sewing, some 65+ years ago, there were actually lots of wovens available but I mostly did garment sewing. I'd love to make a quilt and some pillows with these gorgeous fabrics.
