LA Fabric District

Thirteen years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Chicago Fabric District.  It was just when I had started my blog and I was mesmerized by all of the amazing fabrics.  It was a trip I would love to repeat, especially with a little more experience under my belt.  Fast forward 13 years and lots and lots of quilts later, and I got my wish.   Only this time, I was visiting the LA Fabric District.

Streets full of beautiful bolts!!!   I was pretty much perma-grin the entire time.

I mean, how can you not be, with bolts stacked in piles, and fabric cascading from the walls.   What a way to spend an afternoon.  It was harder to find "quilting cotton" , but I scored some awesome Minky and Linen to add some fun texture to my quilts!!!

And I just had to share this last picture!!!   Yes, I brought the family along for the ride.   They are so very supportive, and while they did paste on smiles for this picture, the also didn't complain about me walking in and out of at least 20 fabric shops and petting every bolt as I went by ;)  They just followed along and indulged me in my love of fabric.   I sure love these guys!!!

If  you ever get a chance to visit a Fabric District, I highly recommend it.  It truly is an awesome experience.

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

  1. I have never been to a fabric district. But those bolts on tubes remind me of all of the fabrics I have looked at in Mexican fabric shops. I am sure you had a great time.
