Home Town Holiday Samper Quilt Along - Week 10

It's Week 10 of the Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and this week I got to make M for Melissa ;)   And, we all know, M, N, O, P is the most fun part to sing in the Alphabet song!!  It's a good week of letters ;)

This weeks Sweetwater Christmas low volume prints are so cute.  I love the polka dots in the M.   (I might have saved them just for that letter ;)   And I love how everything just pops on the POParazzi Grey Background.  I really can't wait to start sewing this quilt together.  Only 10 more letters to go!!!

And that is it for Week 10 of of the Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along!!!   You can join in the fun with Lori Holt's  Home Town Holiday Sampler Book!   You can see the Quilt Along schedule here but make it at your own pace.

See ya next week with more Home Town Holiday Sampler goodness!!  And it is going to be hard for me not to finish off the alphabet and start putting this all together.  Time to start remining myself,  one week at a time Melissa ;)

Vintage Sunburst Quilt!!!

Well, it's been almost a year of the Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and today I am so very excited to share my finished Vintage Sunburst Quilt ;)   And here it is ;)  And can I just say . . .  I love, love, love it!!!

This quilt was made using the  6" and 12" Vintage Sunburst Paper Piecing Pads and using Blossom Basics divided into Warm Tones and Cool Tones for the blocks and lots of assorted White on White scraps.   I have to say, some of the first Sunburst blocks were a little wonky in the center, but I got better and better and lining everything up as I went along.

And didn't it just turn out so amazing!!!! This was a huge project for me that really pushed my paper piecing skills, but I am so glad I did it, because now, paper piecing doesn't intimidate me anymore.  Yippee!!!  Hence the Dragon Fruit BOM so I still have a monthly Paper Piecing project to work on :)

When it came time to quilt mine, I decided on an overall swirl.  I wanted to keep it pretty dense so that I could stitch down those bulky centers.   And let me tell you, some of them were super bulky, I had to stitch slow and steady to get over them ;)

And my most favorite part of this quilt, is actually on the back!!!  Remember how I was taking all of the paper piecing scraps and improv sewing them together . . . Well, this is it ;)   I was blown away with how many scraps were created with this paper piecing project!!!  That square is probably a good 25" x 25".   Just wow, talk about an ode to the Paper Piecing Process.  And ya know, it just makes me smile :)

And that is it for the Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along !!   Wow, what a fun project this turned out to be.  I am so glad I joined in, especially as I can now admit, I was super scared to start :)

So how about you . . . ready to tackle something outside of your "quilting comfort zone"??  I tell you what, it is sure great when you finish it :)

Thanks for popping in and sharing this super special finish with me ;)  I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

Happy (quilting for) Halloween!!

Okay, so I have shared this before, but  I don't make a lot of Halloween quilts, because honestly, I don't like "Scary Halloween".  But I thought today would be the perfect day to share some "cute and adorable and not scary at all" Halloween quilts!!!

First up . . . my How They Shine quilt I made this year using the oh so cute and adorable  Hey Boo line by Lella Boutique for Moda.   I never get tired of making star quilts and I just love making my How They Shine quilt pattern ;)   I love the alternating of prints and backgrounds in the two blocks that create so many awesome secondary designs.  and isn't it just perfect for a new Halloween Quilt!!  If you want to make your own, you can still find a Hey Boo FQB  in shops, and my How They Shine quilt pattern here :)

And if you are looking for Halloween that is super simple and super fast and still super cute . . . we can throw back to my Halloween Sparkly Stars quilt :)   Sparkly Stars is Fat Quarter Friendly, making it easy to grab a FQ Bundle and get stitching right away.  This quilt features Halloween Magic by Bella Blvd. for Riley Blake Designs which is way old but still so cute :)  But really, any FQ Bundle would look good in this design. And you can make your own Sparkly Stars Quilt with a free step by step tutorial as well as a FREE PDF Pattern with 6 size options!!!    It is just a super fun and fast quilt to make and pefect in any theme ;)

And last but not least . . .  this is a new share from Barbara!!!  Mom made this gorgeous Wishes Quilt using my pattern and the Halloween Expressions Batik collection from Riley Blake Designs this year.   I am so loving getting into Batik's, they just make the prettiest quilts!!!   And the colors are just so vibrant and fun, perfect for Happy and Bright and not Scary Halloween :)  Wishes is a Beginner Friendly Quilt that is also FQ Friendly so you can grab a cute Halloween bundle and get stitching!!

So ya . . . 3 Happy Halloween Quilts made with Happy Halloween Fat Quarter Bundles!!   Really, there are so many Cute Halloween Bundles to choose from that will all make cute and adorable and not scary at all Halloween quilts, my favorite to cuddle up in while handing out candy to happy trick or treaters :)

I hope you all have a very Happy (Quilting for) Halloween!!!
