Fabric Pumpkins

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to teach some of the Young Women in my church how to make stuffed fabric pumpkins.  We mostly followed this tutorial from Craft Buds, with some slight modifications.  The girls got right into it and I was so excited that after the first, almost everyone wanted to make a second.  These little guys are super addictive and you can't have just a lone pumpkin right ;)  Here are some of the girls finishes.  So cute!!!

I love that they each made their pumpkin their own.  Hot glue for the spines of the leaves, so cute!!!

And this young women even finished a trio of pumpkins, in an hour!!!  Fast and oh so fun!!!  And isn't that little baby one just so adorable!!

And this young women braved the sewing machine for her stem and it turned out just so cute!!  And I love how perfectly round she got her pumpkin, that is some great stuffing!!

Loving the beautiful leaves on this one!!  So pretty!!

And pinching the leaves at the end to give them a 3-D effect, brilliant!!

And I love the ribbon to add that fun pop on the stem!!

They all did such a great job and really put their own individual creativity into their pumpkins.  I am so proud of them and it was so much fun to watch them get so excited about their finishes!!!

These little pumpkins really are so very fast to make and have the added benefit of using up some of those batting scraps I know we all have lying around ;)  Like I said, we mostly used this tutorial, but you can google Stuffed Fabric Pumpkins to get lots and lots of ideas on how to vary them slightly.  They make such a cute table center when you are done and are a great project to do with your children or grandchildren ;)

I know I will be gathering my leftover supplies from last night and making some more stuffed pumpkins with my children this weekend . . . Are you going to join me???

Have a Happy Quilting Day!!

Adding 3 More to the Mix :)

So remember on Monday when I posted about the 3 new projects I was starting . . . Well I might have already added 3 more to the mix ;)  What can I say, its just a stitching up a storm kind of start to the month, and I am so loving it!!!

First off, I got a reminder email from the lovely ladies at the Cedar Quilt Retreat that they would love to need the quilts I am teaching in January to hang at the annual Heritage Days Festival.  It just might have slipped my mind that the original The Village Square is currently on a cross country Irish Chain Quilts trunk show.   So ya, I need to make another one and it just bumped to the top of the list.   After much debate (so many amazing fabrics make it hard to choose) I decided to go with Sweetwater's Feed Company line for Moda.  I think it will give it an awesome Americana feel.  Time to get cutting on this one ;)

And second, I quick little project using some Heather Bailey True Colors.  I love how soft these prints are.  I have a vision of what it will look like in my head, and I am just hoping it turns out as cute and adorable as I see it in my mind.  I know, I am being a little cryptic, I will share more soon ;)

And finally, I was excited to get these two amazing Jelly Rolls of Modern Backgrounds Ink and Paper by Zen Chic for Moda in the mail.   Fat Quarter Shop has a new pattern coming soon and I am super happy to get to make one for the big release!!   And that Red is a Brushed Bella Solid Red.   I have never used a Brushed Moda Fabric before and I have to say, I am in love!!  It is so incredibly soft!!!   I can't wait to start stitching with it ;)

And those are the three new projects ;)  Okay, and I might also have one or two secret projects that I can't show, but that is it, I promise ;)  I know, I am a little bit crazy, but I just love it!!!  Looking forward to a super cutting, stitching, pressing, all kinds of fabric goodness kind of weekend!!!   So much fun!!!

Have a Super Happy Quilting Weekend!!!!

PSA - Bernina Giveaway

Wow, can you believe it is October already.  Although I do love these months at the end of the year that seem chuck full of Holidays, Friends, and Family!!  But seriously, did anyone else feel like we just were starting September just the other day.

I always love September because it is National Sewing Month and the online quilting world is chuck full of some amazing stuff in September.  My good friends at Fave Quilts did an entire month of free patterns and giveaways for National Sewing Month.  In fact, I shared my Super Scrappy Triple Irish Chain tutorial with them at the beginning of the month and somehow never got it posted here because I happened to be out of town when it posted.

I might have missed that . . . . and we might already be at the close of National Sewing Month . . . But Fave Quilts is still giving you a few more days to enter in their National Sewing Month Grand Prize aka a Bernina 215 Simply Red Sewing Machine!!!!

It's no secret that I love my Bernina's and I am sure one lucky winner is going to love this new Bernina.  So be sure to pop on over and get signed up for the giveaway!!  It closes on October 6th ;)

And with that little PSA for my good friends at Fave Quilts and Bernina . . . I am off to go stitch away, and of course, I will be stitching on my favorite Bernina Artista ;)

Cutting It Close

So ya, it's the last day of the month, so can you guess what I have been sewing this morning.  That's right, Bee Blocks ;)   Sad to say, once again I have procrastinated these to the very last minute.  Ahh, well, they are done and it is still September, so I suppose that is all that counts ;)

For Susan, it was 3/4 log cabin blocks this month in super bright colors.  I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but I got Barbara (amazing MIL) to join in the Beejeebers Bee this year and so we actually spent the morning stitching together and had a great time!!  I mean, how can you not have fun when working with such happy colors!!

And then for the Bees Knees group, Abby asked us to make a Spell it with Fabric letter and sent me the letter M, I am assuming for Melissa ;)  I have made these letters before for this and this quilt and I just find them to be so much fun to put together.  Making this M made me want to make a whole new alphabet again.  Add it to the list ;)

Now I am off to drop these in the mail.  Tomorrow is a whole new month with new blocks, looking forward to see what I will be making next, and hopefully not on Halloween Day ;)

Happy Quilting!!!
