Someday Projects :)

So do you have some of those wonderful Someday Projects.  Ya know, the ones that you will "get to" when you have some spare time??  When you manage to complete the projects that have deadlines??  When basically you create an extra hour for each day that is dedicated to nothing but quilting??

I hope I am not the only one with these kind of projects.  I love making quilts but I find that in the process of bees, quilt-a-longs, and tutorials, that some of those "other" projects just get pushed aside.  Here are the 4 that are making me feel a wee bit guilty right now :)

The Park Avenue on the top left was a giveaway win and I had the perfect plan for it the moment I saw it.  It has been sitting in my basket of projects since then.

The Top right is the HST's I had leftover from the Happy Quilting Quilt-A-Long.  I have had a fun idea of what to do with them since it ended.  Hopefully that one won't be put off much longer :)

The bottom right is my homemade holiday charm pack that I was going to use to make a table center for each holiday.  Well we are 2 holidays down and still no table runners.

And last, the bottom right is some Sugar Pop that I have already cut in the appropriate lengths to make an Avignon Picnic quilt.  It has been cut for months.  I just got the backing and the binding material so maybe that will give me the motivation to get it put together :)

So here is hoping I can squeeze a few more quilting minutes out of each day so that I can get these from the Someday pile to the today pile :)  It might be wishful thinking, but its something :)

  2. I have several 'somday' projects. I've been doing this for at least ten years. What's funny is, sometimes I forget about them and then one day I'm organizing my sewing room and come across them and realize I'm not interested in doing them, so either I feel like I hit gold by discovering a new fabric all over again, to use on something else, or I decide to do the project differently.

  4. Funny, I made a quilt out of the same Avignon fabrics and named it the Awesome Picnic quilt. I think it was your tutorial that I used as a base but not this one.

  6. Hi Melissa!
How about if you a pick a set day for say one or two projects? Like on Thurs, work only on your holiday table toppers until they are done.
Maybe Sunday evening you can work on the Picnic quilt until it is done.
May seem like it takes longer, but will help you to get it done too. I learned this trick when I was cross stitching, only work on a certain project each day, until done that day's work!
    Take care, Leslie

  9. As I was shifting my cotton and flannels to make room for the hat fabric I found the pants you asked me to fix the zipper on before you moved to South Bend! The zipper's there too. My project this week is to finish the patchwork purses. Then its on to the Shakespeare costumes. The fabric is still in piles on floor just like we left it. Soon, soon, soon.

  10. You've got me beat by one! I have three of those projects right now. I have committed to myself however, that I must FINISH two UFQs for every new project of any kind until I get the UFQs under control! (I have about 10 UFQs right now...)
