OR
(Of course, I would make this second one look a little nicer. This is just to give the idea as I didn't want to throw a whole lot of time into it if you prefer the first :)
So, basically I can't decide, I love the nice clean look, but I worry that it doesn't show a whole lot about what this place is about. Then again, I have a hard time deciding on "Favorite's" as about everything I make is my new favorite, and I don't want to be editing the header every other month. So basically I am just going back and forth :) So what do you think?? Throw out your opinion and help a girl out :)
I like the original one the best
ReplyDeleteI think the original is great. For myself, the header just re-enforces that I'm on the correct blog; I am more interested in the posts. If you add pictures, will you link them to the originating posts and will they be changed on a regular basis...
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm "browing" through quilt blogs, I rarely am swayed by the header, more by the content (and your content is excellent :)
I like original headers - that is how I identify the blog - I'm with Sandra , we browse and hit our familiar headers and then go for the content of the blog. A rotating flicker album on the side bar is an alternative of showing work.
ReplyDeleteI love quilts in the headers! It makes me want to dig further into the blog to find all the info about the projects. But your blog is great either way. Choose the heading you like best. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like you original. When people change their heading its confuses me. Im not sure who they are. I change my heading once a year in January but only the pictures and maybe tweak the color. I try to leave the name the same.
ReplyDeleteI think the header indicates what the blog will be about, but I think the pictures actually entice folks to look around a more. They do me, anyway, if I like the pictures or the colors in them. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the original. It might look nice if ONE of them was a background, but to me they are just cluttering up a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYour original is nice and uncluttered. I'd leave it alone if it were me. :)
ReplyDeleteI think your original one is just perfect for you. This is a bandwagon you can probably avoid jumping on. Plus, how on earth would you decide what to include?
ReplyDeleteI would stick with what you have.
ReplyDeleteWhile photos are great, I always think a clean header looks professional. Keep it!
ReplyDeleteI like it as it is too!
ReplyDeletei like it as it is, too, but i understand your need to refresh. maybe layer it on over one of your fav pix; a collage of them as background might be too busy.
ReplyDeleteI like a clean header and a blog that opens quickly. Too many pictures can slow things down a lot!
ReplyDeleteI really like the clean header. I have pictures as my header but that's just because I don't have graphics/logo designed yet. I really need to find someone to do it for me because every time I look at my site I wish it was cleaner.
ReplyDeleteI like it without the photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the original. Some times I think bloggers go overboard, yours is classic and perfect.
ReplyDeleteI like a blog with photos of the quilts the blogger has made. They make me want to look at the blog more. Maybe a classic red and white quilt to match the coloring of the Logo so it still has that clean look.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of digital editing is that you can change your header every day if you like. Personally, I like the one you have now.
ReplyDeleteIt's something I've been thinking about for a while, I just need to find time to do it!
ReplyDeleteClean and crisp is my choice
ReplyDeleteOriginal. I think it is pretty clear what the site is about :D
ReplyDeleteIt is great the way it is!
ReplyDeleteI like clean and crisp.
ReplyDeleteStick with this one!
ReplyDeleteI like it the way it is but have a secondary thought. Whenever I decide whether or not to follow a blog I look at their quilt archive at their collection of quilts. The header is basically the same thing but it doesn't have everything. Since you are having a hard time deciding on your favorites and the fact that they might not match what someone else would pick as theirs I would just leave it off. As a good alternative I'd consider moving your quilt archive tab next to the about me tab or something to make it easier to find. I also agree that it is a lot more about the content than about the header but a busy header, one that is overly crowded or hard to read has turned me off a blog before.
ReplyDeleteI like your simple header. Maybe a row of quilt pictures below the header, but not next to the header.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the Pictures don't take too long to load up and take up half the screen, I don't mind them. A slideshow of your work would be nice as a Widget on the sidebar and you could add to it as you make new stuff.
ReplyDeleteI had picture on mine but kept wanted to change them and it drove me crazy!! I'd stick with it as it is :)
ReplyDeleteI like your original header and it does say what your blog is all about.
ReplyDeleteI used to have pictures on mine, but felt like i needed to change them as the seasons changed or when I made something newer and cuter. I opted to go simple because I liked the way your's (and others') looked. I have never regretted that decision. =)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the other comments because I didn't want to be influenced but I think I like it like it is. I used to have photos on mine too but no more.
ReplyDeleteI will visit your blog regardless of the header, but I like the photos along with the basic header. It's still not too busy and adds some color. Whenever you want, you can switch out a photo or two in the header to feature something new or something you are particularly in love with.
ReplyDeleteI vote for leaving your original header--it says it all without being fussy to look at!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharon I like the header you have now. Simple and clean looking. You do have space to add a photo or two if you like.
ReplyDeleteI like your header nice and clean, BUT I also like headers that show off a person's quilts. In fact, that's usually what draws me in. Not helpful? I think either way you're fine.
ReplyDeleteYour are set up beautifully. It is nice and clutter free.

I like your header as is. I like pictures on some of them, but sometimes they are too busy. The important thing is that it looks the way you like it :)
ReplyDeleteI personally like the colorful headers, but that doesn't decide if I stick around a blog or not. I just like color and seeing what others makes! :) For my own header, I made a collage of what my blog is about (ie: my children, our catering business, my sewing, etc.) Just a thought...
ReplyDeleteI do like some of the updated header versions I've seen lately, BUT on the other hand, some are way too much or too large. For those with smaller monitors, some of those larger ones could take up about 1/3 of their screens I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd since you asked, I think you should stick to what your heart is telling you and not worry about following other bloggers. If you like yours like this then leave it this way. It helps the pages load faster if it's not overly full of pictures and is a nice clean look too.
Melissa, I do like your new to you second header, color helps
ReplyDeleteas does your mini creation pictures. Up to you though of course.
Have a great day!
Hi Melissa - here's my two cent's worth: there's an awful lot of white space around your header, plus the header is the same color as the tabs across the top. In fact, the first color you come to is your Google Friends, and that's probably not what you're trying to draw attention to! I don't think you necessarily need quilt or project photos, but I would spice it up a bit with more color interest either in the tabs, or do a two-tone logo. Coordinate the font colors throughout the blog to give a bit more visual appeal. ?????
ReplyDeleteSince you asked...I like your new version but I seem to be in the minority. I prefer a little more visual interest. For those checking out your blog I think more visual interest would make it a little more "sticky" as Madame would say. Why not go to the source of all great marketing ideas and get Samm's opinion. She will not steer you wrong as you well know.

Great advice! I love it!
DeleteI prefer the original heading the way you have it now is quite nice. The script gives it a pretty and artsy fartsy look without being to distracting and by adding the photos to it you risk overwhelming the eye and detracting from what is already a lovely logo/header. Good luck with which ever you settle on and know that we all visit your blog not because of your header but for all the wonderfulness that is found within!
ReplyDeleteI love the heading the way you have it. My enticement to your site is the content (you) and also under your heading, are lists for all you offer on your blog (tutorials, patterns, TNT Thursdays, etc). I look forward to reading your blog everyday.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the original! It's already really easy to get to your quilt archive from the top and given the amount of other "decoration" on the page with sponsors, etc., the clean look of the current title keeps it from being overwhelming.
Melissa, I actually like the header with the photos.Good luck deciding on your favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI think have 3 pics across the top, and then the original header leading into the blog... does that make sense?
