A Quick Trip

Friday night I buzzed up to Salt Lake to go see little David :)  David is still in the hospital but out of the cardiac unit and working his way up to going home.  It was so lovely to finally get to hold this precious little angel.  He is just adorable!!  Here we are getting better acquainted :)

The next morning, his sister came to visit as well.  She really wanted to share her cookie with David but was told repetitively that David can't eat cookies.  Well that didn't detour her, look what we found a half-hour later hiding under the blanket just waiting for him to wake up and get hungry :)

After visiting David, we took his big sister out so that Mom and Dad could have a little down time together with David.  So what do I want to do with a few hours in Salt Lake, visit a fabric shop of course :)  I knew that Pine Needles had changed their location (same general area just a new building) and really wanted to check it out.  It was great!!

This chair greeted you as you walked in the side door.  Oh, I can't tell you how much I wanted to pick it up and take it home with me.  So fun!!!

And here is a view of the shop from the upstairs classroom.  All those adorable quilts on the wall, and all those bolts of fabric, ohh, I could have stayed all day.  But as mentioned, I had some company, my nieces, mom, and older sister and while I (and probably my mom) could have stayed all day, them not so much :)

I did manage to grab a few fat quarters from the "these have to go" bucket.  I always love searching through those buckets, you never know what treasures you are going to find :)  Like the oh so fun text print from Lucy's Crab Shack, score!!

I returned home Sunday afternoon and was so happy to be greeted by all of my children and their daddy.  It doesn't matter how little I am gone, I still miss them like crazy :)  It was a wonderful weekend and I think I can safely say, I have the cutest little nephew, what a charmer!!!

  1. Melissa, I wanted to jump through the screen and hold that little guy. He looks content and happy despite all of his health issues. Your family's love and support, I'm sure, has already made a world of difference. When I go back to Salt Lake next, I hope to be able to go to Pine Needles new location.

  8. That cookie should be frozen for when David is old enough to eat it!

I have been meaning to let you know that I visited the quilt shops you suggested. Pine Needles was my favorite; my mom's too and she doesn't quilt. I missed you by one day -- what a thrill it would have been to run into you! And I had that Lucy's Crab Shack print in my hand but left it behind for you. :-)

Thanks again for the suggestions. I really appreciate it!

  16. What a little cutie! So glad he is doing well. Hope he can go home soon so your sister and family's life can get back to somewhat normal. Love the pictures of the shop. I live in Jacksonville, Florida and I can't find any neat shops like that in the area. It's fun to visit virtually through the blogs.

  21. This makes me so happy to see little David doing so great. I know all too well the stresses of having a heart baby. Our 9-month-old daughter surprised us by being blue when she was born, and after being rushed an hour away they discovered she had a major heart defect. She was rushed another hour further away for a heart cath day one, and then she had open-heart surgery at a week old. Those 6 weeks we spent in the NICU seemed like an eternity, and coping with the changes once we brought her home, like dealing with a feeding tube for 3 months, were so stressful. But I'm happy to say she is now happy, completely healthy, and thriving. These heart babies are such little fighters and she amazes me every day with what she has overcome. Little David is another miracle!
