A Cutting Weekend

First off, I wan't to say a huge Thank You for all of your sweet comments on my Playing The Scales quilt and tutorial.  You all sure know how to make a girls day!!

These last few day's have been filled with a whole lot of cutting.  I just love the cutting part of making a quilt.  I think it's because when I am cutting I am starting a new project and starting a new project means I am playing with all new fabrics and colors.  And you know the anticipation you get when you start a new project and you just can't wait to see how it will all come out.  Oh ya, good times :)

Remember this beautiful stack for my daughter's new bedspread . . .

Well, lots of cutting and even some trimming later, it is starting to turn into blocks.  So exciting, I promise to show more in day's to come, but everyone loves a good pile of trim, right :)  (And yes, the trimming is what is making my wrist sore, just got to push through that stage :)

And my second cutting project I was so excited for!!!  You remember my Blogger's Choice Bundle for the Fat Quarter Shop??  Well, it's available!!!  So exciting!!!  I got my bundle this weekend and after some squealing and jumping up and down over how pretty the bundle was, I was off to the  cutting mat!!

A few hours later I had a pile of scraps and a smile on my face ;)  More on this quilt to come too . . . think tutorial :)

So that is what I was doing this weekend??  How about you??  What were you working on??

  2. I quilted 4 1/2 quilts and put the binding on 4 of them. Such a productive weekend!

  3. I sewed together 8-in half square triangles into 9 big pinwheel blocks and made a throw quilt. I used 9 different black prints with Kona Ash to achieve Oakland Raiders colors. Still weighing my options on the border.

  6. I should send my cutting to you. I hate that part. consider it the necessary evil in quilting. I can't wait to see what you create with all your cutting though.

  7. No sewing for me this weekend. It was off to Band Competition my son is in. Then had to recover from it yesterday. I did get some quilting done on my granddaughters quilt this morning. I can't wait either to see what you make.

  8. I started a Star of the West quilt and finished a Happy Jack in Plaids Bite Sized Quilt. It is a 12" square quilt with an appliqué pumpkin on it. There is batting behind the pumpkin and I layered some buttons for his eyes. It was a fun project! Looking forward to your new tutorial! :)

  9. I didn't do any sewing (had to teach in Young Women's Sunday), but I did play with my new EQ 7 program and made a quilt pattern that I'm happy with. It's so fun!!! I also ordered your FQ bundle from the FQS today: love those colors!! And what pattern are you making for your little girl with those wonderful pink and greens: can you give us a peek at the plans for that? Have a great day!! Hugs, H in Healdsburg

  11. I am working on a tumbling charms quilt for Project Linus that is 30's prints paired with a creamy beige tone on tone floral. The fabrics were donated all cut and ready to go even in numbered rows. It is really pretty fabric and fun to sew together. I have added some of my 30's prints to go with it since I wanted it a bit bigger. I am looking forward to laying it out. So glad you shared that tutorial the other day. Looks like a fun quilt to make too. K-

  16. I'd be smiling with your Blogger's choice fabrics too. Having way too much fun with you new projects, Melissa! I'm working on more projects that I don't want to turn into UFO's the end of the year. I need more in my To Be Quilted List so I can practice my FMQ too.
