So I tallied all of the blog comments, facebook comments , and individual emails and the clear favorite was . . . Option 1!!!! So there you have it . . . This will be the block we will be doing for the Star Light Star Bright Quilt-A-Long (Do you like the name??)
I thought you might like to get an idea of what it will look like in fun prints so I took some favorite bundles from the last QAL and threw them into our Star Light Star Bright design. Here they are!!
Doesn't that just make you so excited. Eeekkk, I just love them!!! This is going to be so fun!!!
Now, just a quick note. . . . if you were one of the folks who wanted the Star from #4 in the center don't fret. It is easily changed. Just cut your four center squares 1/2" larger and turn those four squares into HST's :)
Or if you liked that pop of yellow . . . Just remember when we are making our flying geese with the big square print, to substitute your pop color fabric ;)
This is your Quilt . . . So please, please, please . . . Customize it any way you like. I won't be showing instructions on these customizations. I tried to figure how how I could, but it just got really confusing. But please know that if you have any questions along the way, general or customize ones, just shoot me an email :) I am happy to help in any way I can ;)
So, what now?? Well, give me a few weeks to get together all of the nitty gritty. I need to get measurements, (remember, there will be multiple size and layout options, including a one block options for those that want to QAL but are a little swamped ;) fabric requirements, some great custom bundles (like the ones above but with new fabrics) , a button, and of course, lots of prizes!!!!
Expect to see a little teaser post come the beginning of January with a button and then a schedule post mid January that will include fabric requirements ;) I am tentatively planning for the end of January to get started with cutting ;)
I am just so excited for another fabulous Quilt-A-Long and I am over the moon happy to see how much you all love the design. I am pretty sure the Star Light Star Bright Quilt-A-Long is going to be the biggest QAL here at Happy Quilting to date!!!
what a wonderful idea and a gorgeous design! ♥ReplyDelete
thank you so much I am very excited
lots of dear greetings
I already know exactly what I'm doing :). I'm going to use the same fabrics as my Star Surround quilt and it will be my second living room quilt. Can't wait to get started!!!ReplyDelete
I have been buying some fabric bundles from the IT lately, whenever she has a Flash sale (ah ah!) and I'm excited to see if I have enough of one of them to make this quilt so I don't have to go buy more. Which if I do have to buy more fabric, well, dang! I might just have to deal with it. I am so excited!ReplyDelete
Ya! I'm so glad option 1 was the winner! Ohhhh the pink and black and gray is sooo pretty.ReplyDelete
I love it! I can't wait to get started. I loved doing the Star Surround this past summer. Thank you!!!ReplyDelete
Great block and quilt Melissa. I am so far behind that I never saw the first post, but I think this would have been the option I would have chosen.ReplyDelete
I know you don't have any of the fabric info figured out yet, BUT is there any chance you could give some idea of the amount of fabric so we might have a chance to get the bulk of what we might need now while all the sales are going on??
I LOVE this quilt!!!! And I'm so excited that the one I liked is going to be the one you do!! And I'm also glad that we won't be starting it till mid Jan with fabric requirements, and the end of Jan with the sewing and cutting: I need some time to get things taken care of after Christmas, and I don't want to miss out on this!! What size will the blocks be? Have a wonderful Christmas!! Hugs, H in HealdsburgReplyDelete
I think this is going to be a wonderful wedding quilt!! How big is the block?ReplyDelete
It would be a beautiful wedding quilt. There will be lots of block size options, just like the Star Surround. See here http://happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com/2013/07/star-surround-quilt-long-schedule.html Pretty much the sizes in that quilt will be the same in this one, and the fabric requirements will be pretty close to the same as well ;) There will be a giant 72" block though for those that want to do a giant one block quilt :)Delete
Wow.......I am really going to try this year to play HST's with you.. Girlfriend.. I am going to try a coloring page...... I think I can print this with the shaded areas and that will tell me where the print goes.??ReplyDelete
I think Im going to make this for my husband, in lots of solids and man-ly colours!ReplyDelete
This is going to be so great!
I CANT wait till January!
Yay! This quilt is going to be so fun. I can't wait to start seeing people come up with different color combinations. That was so much fun during the Star Surround quilt along.ReplyDelete
Can you explain to me how a quilt-a-long works? I'm intrigued but I don't really know what happens or how you participate. ThanksReplyDelete
The quilt-a-long works by breaking down a large quilt into weekly manageable pieces. Each week on the blog I will post instructions on how to complete that weeks task. So for instance, the first week I will go over how to cut all of your fabrics. Then the second week we will probably do Half Square triangles and so on and so on until the quilt is put together :) Each week, you will be able to link up your progress so you can see everyone's work and be eligible for prizes. And then there is a grand prize at the end for everyone who finishes their quilt tops :)
I have many half yard cuts of the Noteworthy line. Hoping this might be a good low volume Kwilt with a pop of color somewhere. Your thoughts.ReplyDelete
Another fabulous design, Melissa! Merry Christmas!ReplyDelete
I haven't done one of your QA's but am anxious to start. I want to do some soft Colors;the pattern is lovely.ReplyDelete
So excited to get to do this with you!!! Thank you so much :) Merry Christmas!!!!!ReplyDelete
Awesome! And thank you for giving us the option of doing block 4 as it looks pretty easy to change it up. Can't wait to get started!ReplyDelete
I'm so excited #1 was the winner. I'm moving some things around to make room for this QAL right now!ReplyDelete
