Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt

A few weeks ago I was asked by the wonderful folks at Fat Quarter Shop if I wanted to make one of their new Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt that uses Kate Spain's new Christmas line Jingle.   I knew right away that I wanted to make this up for Barbara  (my wonderful MIL and Binding Fairy ;)  Kate Spain is one of her absolute favorite designers and she loves all things Christmas, perfect fit!!!

The Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt was so much fun to make!!!  With the stip piecing it went together really fast even with all the angles you are playing with.  I tweaked my design just slightly, as I liked the squares jutting in just a bit ;)  I just love the way it turned out, what a great design!!!  The pattern for the Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt can be found right here ;)

And as always, Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop has made putting it together even easier with a fabulous Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt video tutorial that walks you through each and every step of the way ;)

When it came time to quilt mine, I decided to pass the baton.   Barbar does amazing feathers, and since this was going to be under her tree, I thought she might like to quilt it up with her beautiful features.  So we mapped out a plan and Barbara quilted it up.   Didn't she do a fantastic job!!!!  This so makes me want to practice my feathers more so I can do this!!!   Barbara used a fabulous red and green variegated thread called Fantastico Christmas Chance.  What a perfect match!!!

And that is my Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt Finish!!!!  I am so excited for Barbara to have this under her tree this year ;)  Working on this made me want to dig my Christmas Tree out from the closet and start decorating in June ;)

Fat Quarter Shop has Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt Kits and Baking Sets available if you want to make your own using the same fabrics.  It really is so much fun to make!!!

Only 181 days until Christmas, I can't wait!!!

Have a Happy Quilting Weekend and who knows, maybe you can start some Christmas Sewing too :)

  2. Love it - so cute! I think it should be called tree 'pants' instead of 'skirt' since it's square, hehehehe :)

  4. Beautiful tree skirt. Thank you for sharing the pattern source. I make tree skirts for wedding gifts and I have two coming up before the end of the year. It will be nice to have a new pattern! The quilting is gorgeous, too.

  5. Beautiful! I love the strips and quilting. You know you are a good quilter when you dare to quilt with red thread on white fabric. :)

  8. Your tree skirt looks so much better by the way it was quilted than the others ones I saw. I hope that doesn't sound rude to the ones that had the plain white edges...The red quilting made the whole skirt just pop out! Now, maybe I will be inspired and want to make this!
