There are so many adorable and amazing quilts in Holiday Wishes. I really was having a hard time deciding which quilt I should make for this super fun event as I was just loving each quilt on each page I turned. And then I turned the page once more and instantly and absolutely fell in love with the Deck the Halls Mini Quilt . . . .only I didn't make it mini ;)
Eeeekk, here is my new cuddle up Christmas Quilt!!!!! I can't wait to Deck the Halls (or the back of my couch) with this quilty goodness come December!!! If you have been around here for a time, you know that I love stars, and aren't these patchwork stars just so fantastic!!!!
I used 16 of the colored prints from a Cookie Exchange Fat Quarter Bundle by Sweetwater for Moda ;) The fabrics just fit the pattern so perfectly, There was a perfect number of colors, the perfect amount of each print in each color, and I just love the prints, so fun ;)
The quilt really went together fast with wonderful directions from Sherri ;) I assembly line pieced the 16 blocks in just a few days and then the rest came together in no time ;) And I love the layout of the alternating color rows, it really gives the quilt great flow.
Seriously, every time I see these stars I just sigh a little :) There is something so incredibly classic and timeless about patchwork stars!!!! I can't get enough of them!!! Love, Love Love!!!!
When it came time to quilt it, I decided that this classic star needed some classic swirls, so I opted to quilt it with a simple all over swirl and curl. I just love the added motion it gives the quilt, and it is one of my all time favorites to quilt. Just so relaxing as you swirl away :)
And look at all of that yummy quilting textures ;) I used a different batting this time as well that has a little larger loft and I just love how wonderfully puffy it makes the quilt come out ;) So perfect for cuddling up in front of the tree with the lights lite and watch the snow fall outside!!
So ya, It might be a little hard to wait all the way to December to pull this out as I daydream about snow and Christmas lights ;) Maybe it will make a little earlier appearance, who says you have to wait past Thanksgiving to Deck the Halls for Christmas ;)
I want to say Thank You to Fat Quarter Shop and Sherri Falls for having me as part of the kick off of this fun filled event!!! You can see all of the beautiful quilts from Holiday Wishes in this super adorable You Tube video that Fat Quarter Shop put together ;) They are all just so great, Sherri did such an amazing job on this wonderful quilty Christmas book!!!

ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! I just bought the book. Does the book have instructions for enlarging the blocks from mini to large in this quilt? If not, may I ask how you figured it out? I'm a new quilter, so need lots of help! I love star quilts and want to make this one.
