Modern Heritage Quilts

Last summer, I had the wonderful opportunity to piece a couple of quilts for my good friend Amy Ellis for her newly released book Modern Heritage Quilts.  Now that the book is released, I can share the quilts!!  Yippee ;)

The first quilt is called Soaring and I had so much fun making it up.  I loved that I got to play with scrappy prints within each color value because scrappy is just happy!!!  And isn't the movement in this quilt just incredible.  I just love Amy's designs!!

And even though this quilt looks a little complex to piece, it really isn't.   Again, Amy does amazing designs and breaks this quilt down into simple piecing.  It went together super quick and was so much fun to piece!

The second quilt I pieced for Amy is called Brilliance.  In this design Amy takes the traditional snowball piecing but stretches it out to make diamonds.   So fun!!!   And once again, gotta love the super scrappy goodness :)

This quilt has such wonderful modern flair tied in with such a wonderful traditional block.  It just makes me smile.  Just like Soaring, it was super fun and super fast to piece.   And how perfect would it be for busting some serious scraps.   You better believe this one was added to the list to make my own version ;)

Yippee, it is so fun to finally get to share these fun quilts!!!  You can see all of the amazing quilts in Modern Heritage Quilts over at Amy's Blog right here ;)  Like I said, she is an amazing designer and these quilts are incredible eye candy!!!

Thanks so much Amy for letting me be a small part of your incredible book!!!  And yes, several of these amazing quilts (Serendipity, The Comfort Quilt, and Brilliance)  have been added to the "to do" list. That list just keeps getting longer and longer :)  Gotta love it!

Have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
