Hands down garden fresh tomatoes are my favorite! I have the worse luck growing them but I find them at my local pick your own vegetable farm.

ReplyDeleteAlthough truly a fruit, my favorite things to grow are tomatoes. There's nothing like biting into a freshly-picked homegrown tomato while leaning over the sink to catch the juice dripping down your chin. And tomato pie! Tomato & mayo sandwhiches! mmm mmm mmm!

ReplyDeleteI haven't had Peas from the garden since I was a kid, but I used to love them! Since we don't have a garden I'm happy with things grown by others. My former neighbor used to bring us tomatoes which we really enjoyed.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I used to love to go pick the peas right of the vine and eat them raw--not the sugar snap variety, just plain old peas in the pod. Now my favorite is the asparagus my husband grows. We only have it in the spring, but it is fabulous.

ReplyDeleteChoosing just 1 garden veggies is too hard--I love everything that is so local it comes from 30 feet from my house. I like to plant 30-40 different veggies each year. There's a fantastic recipe for egglant dip in a Moosewood Cookbook that I have. Yum.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a 'wee' child, my mother had veggie patch in our back yard with corn beans radishes, etc. Most days you could find my in the middle of the patch eating the fresh vegetables as they grew - she wasn't too happy about that but i think my favorite was the corn on the cob followed by radishes, beans, cucumbers, etc. To this day my veggies have to be almost raw. Thanks.
