ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite quilt costume as a kid was a princess because I got to wear make-up! As an adult looking back at my costumes, my favorite is when I was three years old and my parents dressed me up as my Daddy in one of his shirts and ties. You can tell from the pictures I was thrilled to be my Daddy and as an adult, I can't think of a better man to want to be like!
ReplyDeleteA tiny clown costume that was handed down to at least a dozen kids for their first trick or treat!

I use to make pjs, nightgowns, or clothing to use as the base of the costumes. One of my favorite was a black velour pair of pants and hooded jacket. After our daughter put them on, she laid on the floor, and my husband and an International student applied tape to look like a skeleton. The fun part was the giggles as they put on the tape. One year I made velour nightgowns and drew out butterfly wings on cardboard. The girls chose their own colors for the gowns and painted their own wings. We stapled elastic to the cardboard so they could wear the wings. They were huge, and the girls kept running into mailboxes with them as the trick-or-treated. All bring back such good memories, and after halloween they had wearable clothing. Nancy A: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume when I was a kid was when I was a very scary witch - it really frightened the little kids and for some reason I got a real kick out of that.
