  50. My first job was as a nanny for the summer; an "upgrade" from years of babysitting. A few years later I learned that the mom of the family died as a result of breast cancer, leaving three young kids. I felt such a loss, and such a strange connection--her kids had been "my kids", too, for a summer, and now they lost their mother. But she was wonderful and loving, and gave them a strong start. I still think about them and wonder how they are doing.
