ReplyDeleteI honestly can't remember. When I was a kid, we didn't buy costumes. We just tried to figure out something to wear like a sheet for a ghost, etc. However, one of the funniest Halloween's I remember was when my mother-in-law threw a sheet over her head, and she'd hide in the bushes beside her house until some kids came by. Then she'd jump out and scare them! She had to be at least in her 60s.

The only one I really remember was when I was a gypsy in fourth grade. I wore my mother's full skirt that was royal blue with gold thread all over it, and really big clip-on hoop earrings. I loved to twirl around in that skirt! About 25 years ago I went to a costume contest at a bar. The winner was a Christmas tree with green tulle, battery-powered lights and a star on her head. I always thought that was pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite costumes that I made for my children when they were young were; a bear costume that was used twice by my son and then later by my daughter and a shark for my daughter. I burned the midnight oil sewing both of them, but it was worth it.
