How to Color my Denim Quilt??

So, I am still working on cutting up my jeans for my Denim Quilt  I posted about back here, but this morning I got thinking about center fabrics for the Cathedral Windows, because ya know, playing with fabric is fun!!!  I debated about using eight charm packs, but then realized, I easily have enough scraps for the 324 Charm Squares I will need, and I seriously need to do some scrap busting, so that meant another playing with the rainbow scraps quilt ;)   So I hoped on to EQ8 , drafted a cathedral window block, and gave it a denim looking outline.  Then the coloring fun began!!!

It was so quick and fun to play with coloring this quilt . . . but now my only problem is, I can't decide!!!   So can you help a girl out ;)    Please leave a comment of which option you like best.
And if it helps, this is for a queen size, shabby chic (the denim edges will be scruffy), cathedral window, denim quilt that will eventually be for kept on the bed at my in-laws cabin when it is all made ;)

Option 1 - Classic Diagonal Rainbow
For this option, I would plan on organizing all of my scraps into a color graduation so that it would really have a classic ombre effect.  It would probably take the most work to lay it out but would look awesome ;)

Option 2 - Mixed Up Horizontal Rainbow
For this option, I would keep an ombre effect of three rows per color, but go ahead and mix up the shades of the colors within the three rows.   I like the mixed up look and it would make laying it out a little easier ;)

Option 3 - Exploding Rainbow
This is the same type of option that I did for my Single Scrappy Irish Chain, but I went for an even more exploding look.  I would have to follow the diagram closely on this one, but it is such a cool layout that gives it a more modern look.

Option 4 - Scrappy Goodness
And you can't go wrong with a scrappy option.  Obviously, this layout would be the easiest as I would just pull as I went and see what color mix ups I get.  And it might be great to keep that fun cabin quilt theme.

So ya . . . each I love for different reasons, and it is just so hard to pick a favorite!!!  So what is your favorite???   Or do you have another idea that I haven't even thought of yet??  I can easily sketch it up in EQ8 and add it to the options ;)  Just leave a comment!!

And fun side note for all my readers . . . right now you can use the promo code EQ8MELISSA for 20% off all EQ products, just in case you want to play around coloring your quilts as well ;)     And they have a brand new Dear Jane product that I am so excited about and will share more about soon!!!  Who else has had a Dear Jane on their to make list forever ;)

And thanks ahead of time for all of your help in deciding a layout option!!!  You all are always the best for stepping in and helping me out!!!

  4. They will all look amazing, but option 1 is my favorite!

  5. I like the diagonal rainbow because it adds motion across the quilt, but I love how fun the exploding rainbow version is, so that would be my choice.

  6. LOVE Option 1. Rainbow has a special meaning in my family.
Even though it's more work ,but challenging . What else are you going to do during this crisis hmmm

  8. I like 1 classic diagonal rainbow and 3 exploring rainbow. Another idea is to create a shape like a heart in the center.

  9. Hard to choose--but I'd go with option #2.

  10. They are all nice. My favorite is option 3, with option 2 as my second choice. You can't go wrong, however you choose!

  11. I like the 4th one the best, but how about a barn raising layout?

  12. I like option 2 best. I love rainbow quilts and #2's layout is unexpected. Which ever option you pick will be great, they are all fun quilt designs!

  13. I like the exploding option. It is different from the regular rainbow type lines that everyone does, plus it won't show whether it is perfectly straight on the bed because there are no angles to compare to the edge of the bed.

  14. I like 4 best, but I started to say 2, because it was the most unusual.

  15. Even though it may take more effort Option 1 is really the only one that does justice to this beautiful quilt.

  16. My first choice would be #1, and then #3. More work, I know, but they certainly are spectacular! Hugs, H

  17. Option #2 is my favorite. Whatever you decide will be dynamite, though!

  18. After looking at them again, I think I like #1 best. But regardless of which you choose it will be beautiful

  19. They are all great but I like option 4 the best

  20. I love 2 and 3. Don’t care at all for 4 and would take 1 in a pinch. I have some charm packs for my quilt that I’m gonna do. Been hoarding old jeans for a while. I think this is a good weekend to start cutting!

  21. My pick is #4 because you said the intention is for a shabby chic look and it is going to kept on a bed at a cabin. The other three designs are all beautiful (!!!) but too structured for a shabby chic cabin look.

I love this idea and I just might make one of these quilts also since I too have saved jeans from my kids when they were younger! Thanks for the inspiration as always!

  22. My pick is exploding rainbow (#3). All are great.

  23. I love #4 (#2 would be my second choice). The randomness suits a "cabin quilt".

  24. Even before I read or saw rainbow I was thinking it needed a rainbow. The first one is the best in my opinion. It's going to be fabulous. You're going to let the kids help, right? That would make it so much better.
