THE PARADE

Now, as just mentioned, you only have to have your quilt top done to enter into the grand prize drawing . . . However,  I wanted to encourage you to finish these quilts and not set them in a pile of "to be quilted" so I am planning a Parade for the 27th of May :)  The parade will show off all quilted and bound Charming Baby Sampler Quilts!!

So, how do you finish up those quilts???

Baste It, Quilt It, and Bind It!!  I know, I make it sound all so simple.  If you are new to quilting, and need some help with these last few steps, you can see my Video Tutorials that go over the basics of how to do this ;)  Also, there are some helpful free motion quilting tutorials if you are stuck on how you want to quilt your project ;)   I quilted mine with an all over Curly Q that I really love to use for sampler quilts as it makes for great texture and is simple enough not to take attention away from all of those fun blocks!!!

Once you have your quilt finished it is ready to be showcased in the Parade.  To be in the Parade, please send me an email at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com  with your favorite finished Charming Baby Sampler Quilt picture attached as well as your name the way you would like it listed with your photo, where you are from, and a Link if you would like me to link your picture . . .  Blog, Instagram, or Facebook will work great :)    You can email me anytime from now until the evening of May 26th and I will get you added to the Parade!!!

I am so looking forward to seeing everyone's finishes!!!  It has been so fun to see all of your quilt blocks each week and I can't wait to see them all quilted and bound  ;)   The Grand Prize winners will be announced on May 27th at the end of the amazing parade filled with all of your beautiful quilts.!!!  I can't wait!!!

SHARING

Just a reminder . . .  Don't forget to share your finished quilt tops by linking up below or post on social media with the Hashtag #charmingbabyquilts  or you can always email me a picture and that will enter you for the Grand Prize Giveaway!!!!   And don't stop at your quilt top . . . go ahead and finish it all up and then email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com to be in the Charming Baby Sew Along Parade!!!!

  1. The first baby quilt I made was a panel quilt for my grand nephew. I like to make panels with other blocks around them. Your book has some cute ideas though!

  3. The first baby quilt I made was for one of my coworkers. I took a pack of charm squares and sewed them together, they were a camping theme and she just loved it. Laurie

  4. My first baby quilt was for my first baby, who is now 20 years old! It was tied, 2 pieces of flannel with batting In between, sewn pillowcase style. My first pieced baby quilt was made for my 5th baby, 11 years later. It was a simple Irish chain. I still make both kinds of baby quilts, though piecing is my favorite.

  5. My first baby quilt was in 1974 2 inch pink and white squares cut with a cardboard template and scissors. It was all seen by hand and the fabric was lovely double knit😳😳😂😂 I was ever so proud at the ripe old age of 19💗💗

  6. The first baby quilt I ever made was for my first child - first attempt at quilting. It was a simple four-patch of generic novelty prints with yellow solids as we didn't know the sex of the baby back then. It was okay as I had been sewing for years - definitely not the guidelines I follow now for quilting! Did the sandwich finishing and tied it.

  7. My first baby quilt was made for my youngest nephew. It was simple but got me re-engaged in quilting after taking a long break from sewing.

  8. My first baby quilt was for my first grandchild before she was born. It was a pattern from the PS I Love You Two book. White background with small pastel colors in 2" triangles. Probably too hard for my ability but it turned out really good. She is now graduating from 8th grade and still treasures that quilt. Warms a grammi's heart.

  11. My first baby quilt was a ship pattern made from half square triangles. I also made a stuffed fish from some of the same fabric to go with it.

  12. I made a baby quilt for my oldest niece (born in 1975!!). I cut out a printed kitty from a panel (as I recall it was suppose to be made into a stuffed pillow) and machine appliqued it onto another piece of fabric. I didn't really know what I was doing and I didn't have a blanket stitch on my machine so I zigzagged the kitty onto the fabric. I also didn't know how to finish a quilt with binding so I sewed lace onto the edges then did the sandwich finish, turned and tied the quilt. I had to start somewhere!

  13. My first baby quilt went to my first grandchild, a grandson. It was colorful and full of zoo animals. I also made a bag to go with it for carrying all those goodies that a new baby requires when you are out and about.

  14. Oh, my! It was so long ago...46 years to be exact. I traced several ABC coloring book pages, embroidered them, and used gingham blocks between each. It grew and grew! I just tied it. It was well loved for many years.

  15. I made my first baby quilt for my great nephew, 10 years ago. I used a Noah's Ark themed fabric, beautiful soft blues and greens. It was one of my first quilts ever, and although not the most difficult pattern, I was quite proud of it, and my soon-to-deliver niece loved it.

  17. I've never made a baby quilt, just larger quilts.

  18. The first baby quilt I made was an X's and O's pattern that I made for a friend that had a late caboose come into her family.

I hope the rest of my background comes soon so that I can finish my top. I only ordered part of it the first time to make sure the color was right and now it's taking much longer to get stuff.

  23. My very first quilt was for my niece. My sister and her husband were adopting a baby, so I wanted to make something special for the first baby in the family. I learned how to quilt while making this special quilt too.

  24. I made my first baby quilt when I was expecting our first child. I used the Quilt in a Day Radiant Star book and was so happy to be sewing it : )

  25. The first baby quilt I made was for our son when he was born. It consisted of blocks I painted with fabric paint and then four patches for every other block. A blast from the past!

  26. The first baby quilt I ever made was when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter 39 years ago this month. How did that happen?! My quilting has come a long way since then. While the quilt itself hasn't lasted the test of time, I still have the embroidered blocks that were incorporated in it. Although all quilts are wonderful, there is just something special about making baby quilts.

  29. It has been so long ago since I made my first baby quilt but I think it was one that I made for a co-worker. Another co-worker and I teamed up on piecing the top. It was the perfect gift.

  32. My first baby Quilt was a completely embroidered on flannel with a flannel border and backing. It was for my first baby in June of 1982. I hand tied it and after it was used by my son, I washed it and all the batting washed to the corners of the Quilt. I was a very sad Mom for many days 😢😥😪,!

I took a quilting class at the YMCA and it had prairie points in multi colors.Don't remember the quilt pattern but I do remember those prairie points. This has been a fun quilt to make. Thanks.
