No one locally carries grunge fabrics and they have such varied colours in the backgrounds that I want to see before I buy. I have picked up a couple of small pieces in my travels and have used them as parts of larger quilts, in particular I picked up 2 greens and used those as leaves. I'd love to play with a whole set of grunge.

I love grunge. I've used wide backing (cream and grayish) as backings for several quilts, including one that was a wedding gift for my niece. I've also a beautiful blue as sashing and borders for a very colorful scrap quilt for a niece's Christmas present. The color changes in the grunge helped to soften the the other colors in the quilt.

ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, yes I’ve pieced a throw size using the Tracery pattern from Sharon Holland’s book “Utility Style “. butterscotch Grunge backing and binding and Multiple white/cream Grunge strips on front. No matter how you slice Grunge, it’s absolutely yummy.

I had never used Grunge for anything before but I found a good sale on it and decided to give it a try. It came into play for a backing one of my customer's needed for her quilt! Her quilt was a Jelly Roll quilt all done in shades of purple. It was so pretty!

ReplyDeleteI have made a quilt using some red grunge fabric. It was a line of Christmas fabric by Basic Grey and I used it to make a Christmas quilt that yes I have been working on for about 4 years more or less and hope to have finished to use this year in my Christmas decorating.
