February was all about Teaching!!!

So I know, March is almost come and gone, but I am just now getting to posting all about February.  Such is the way life goes ;)   So February was oh so much fun!!!  I got to teach at 3 different quilt retreats, which was crazy busy, but again, oh so much fun!!!

First up was, The Quilty Friends Retreat up at Bryce Canyon and it was just wonderful!!!  Especially since my Sister In Law, Becca, came along with me and Barbara.  She had us sewing up into the nights and really "retreating" rather than just teaching.   It really was a blast!!!

I taught 2 classes at the retreat.   The first class I taught was my Moroccan Lullaby 2 Pattern!!   This was my first time teaching this new pattern and everyone did such a great job!!!   I just loved seeing everyone's blocks come together and the class was super fun as there are lots of technique in this block including no waste Lattice Blocks that I just love ;)

The second class I taught was another Decades Past Class!!  And again, just so fun!!!  Everyone in class just did amazing and I loved seeing all the variety of fabrics.  And this block really is much easier than it looks, so everyone in class got a block finished and starting moving onto more.   So great!!!

Then, the next weekend was the Cedar Chest Quilt Retreat.   This is my hometown retreat and they were celebrating their 15th year of retreats and I was honored to be the featured teacher for the year.  I got to teach 2 classes and did my Charming Baby Quilts Trunk Show as well, which of course, we forgot to get pictures of ;)

The first class I taught was my Wishes Quilt, so precious.   Everyone in class did such a great job!!  It was so fun to see oh so many fabric variations.  You know I leave every class wanting to remake the quilt in another 5 fabric variations :)

The next day I taught my Shine Bright   class from my Charming Baby Quilts Book!!  And oh my, was this a super fun class!!!   This was my first time teaching this class from my book, and it just went so great, even with my little oopsie on the display board (I totally reversed my corners, see it happens to all of us :)   We fixed it and moved forward and had some good laughs over it for the rest of class.      I just loved seeing each of these blocks come together ad can't wait to see finished quilts!

And it is always fun when quilt finishes come back from pervious years.   I had taught my  Nordic Nights Class here previously, and had a student bring back her finished quilt.  Isn't it just gorgeous!!!  And she loved my quilting so much, she had it quilted just like mine, what a special treat!!!

And then a week later, it was off to Delta Utah for the Snow Goose Quilt Festival.  This was my first time at this retreat and it was just so great!!!  I was the featured teacher along with Amber from Gigi's Thimble. And what an amazing group of ladies.   Again, I was blessed to be able to teach 2 classes and share my  Charming Baby Quilts Trunk Show.  For the trunk show I shared my 10 quilts from Charming Baby Quilts along with the 10 Remix's and the Charming Baby Sampler.   I just love getting to share the stories behind my quilts, from their designs, to picking fabric, to why I quilted them a certain way.  It was just so great and these Delta Ladies were just so much fun to chat and laugh with :)

The first class I taught was my Moroccan Lullaby Pattern and about half the class did the original, and about half the class did the 2nd version!!   Which kept me hoping and having such a great time!!!  This retreat is held in a big open community center and it was so wonderful for everyone to just have so much space :)

And the other class I taught was my  Nordic Nights Class.   And these ladies rocked the curves!!  Some of them it was their very first time trying curved piecing and they just did amazing!!  Aren't their blocks just so pretty!!!    I have to say, this is one of my all time favorite classes to teach because I just love seeing how excited students get when they realize curves are not near as hard or scary as they thought they were going to be!!!  So great, and honestly, that is what classes are all about, right ;)

Oh, and we totally had a quilt top finish before the end of the retreat!!  Isn't this baby size Moroccan Lullaby Quilt just too precious!!!  I loved the background fabric with all of it's under the sea vibes.  So cute in two colors as well, just adorable!!!

And that was February!!!   Wow, can you see why I am just now getting to posting about it.  I have been playing catch up for all of March, tee hee hee.   Now I am gearing up for teaching in St. George in April, and Panguitch in June, where I will be teaching 7 (yes, you read that right) classes!!!  And I am sorry, but The Quilt Walk hit it's maximum registration within a few days of opening registration, so there is no more signing up for that.  But mark your calendars for next year, it is always a treat!!!

I am just so happy that we are back to Retreating!!!   I truly missed it :)  Have you been to a quilt retreat recently??  They are just so much fun, I highly recommend them!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!
