Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas

From our Family to Yours!!!

Here is our Annual Christmas Letter, just in case you want to read about what we Corry's have been up to this year ;)   And FYI, my husband always writes this letter and I teased him that "quilting empire" is a term that should be used very loosely ;)

Dear Family and Friends

2023 has been good to us. So let’s get to it.

Jocelyn entered 6th grade and moved from South Elementary to Cedar Middle School. It is nice having all the kids gone by 8 in the morning (or so I’m told by the one who is still at home at 8). She also started going to young women’s this year and has been enjoying her frequent activities and associations with her friends in the neighborhood. She is definitely our most social child and I fear the days when she starts dating.

Kamryn started high school this year. Following in the footsteps of her 3 older siblings she enrolled at Success Academy and Cedar High School and stays busy with an inordinate amount of school work. She finished her 3rd year of mountain biking this year with success. For the second year in a row Kam decided to break her wrist while crashing on her bike. While it occurred at the beginning of the season in 2022, this year she decided to do it in the middle of the season during a race. She missed 2 weeks of practice and was back on the bike for her next race with a splint on. The arm healed well and she was able to race at state in Cedar City. I’m considering purchasing a whole bunch of body armor for next years’ season.

Kristian is a Junior at Cedar High and Success and has taken over the role of the oldest child at home. He has happily commandeered the kids’ Ford Escape as his own and is often found playing D&D with friends or Magic with his older brother (when he comes to visit). Kristian also completed another year of mountain biking and is significantly faster than I on the bike, but he still condescends to ride with me from time to time. I enjoy our occasional trips together to St George during the winter months to ride and I think he likes them too.

Jessica graduated from Success Academy and CHS last spring with her high school diploma and associates degree from SUU. She continues her work at TJ Maxx and is constantly working on her communication skills. I’m sure they will come in handy in the not-too-distant future. Jessi has continued her education at SUU and moved into an apartment a few miles from us in the early fall. She still spends a fair amount of time here at home and I lovingly call her half of my freeloaders, but Melissa and I enjoy every minute we get to spend with her.

Spencer returned home from his 2 year mission to Germany and we have been overjoyed to have him back with us. He lived at home for a couple of months before also moving into an apartment a few miles away (on the opposite side of SUU campus from Jessi). He now constitutes the second half of my freeloaders as he comes home to visit anytime a warm meal is available. We are overjoyed to have him back with us and are trying (poorly) to be as hands off as possible while he navigates the challenges of work, school and dating in this new phase of life.

Melissa continues to expand her quilting empire. It’s safe to say she spends more time at her career than I do at mine and while it is not nearly as lucrative she seems to derive significantly more pleasure from her chosen occupation than I do from mine. Through it all she continues to take care of us all and functions very well as a counselor to our two freeloaders throughout their escapades of life.

I continue to work taking care of patients at the clinic and generally enjoy it, though my mind has unfortunately started a countdown to retirement (it’s a long countdown). I was able to help coach the kids’ mountain bike team and have found more enjoyment doing so than I ever thought.

We hope this letter finds you all well and wish you joy at this time we celebrate the birth of our Savior.

Love,

The Corrys
