Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along!!!

Yup, today is my day to share my block from the Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop!!  But you know I couldn't stop at just one block, right!!  All that adorable scrappy goodness just had to be made into this adorable Scrappy Strawberry Table Topper!!

I just love this fabulous Farm Girl Vintage book by Lori Holt!!!   The blocks are so much fun to make and how totally cute are they!!!  I love all of the fabulous layouts that Lori came up with too for all of these adorable blocks!!   Seriously, check out the Sew Along and see all of the fun blocks!!

Seriously, like I said, the blocks are so much fun to make!!  And I just loved using up some of my fabulous "candy" squares that I had from Market to make these strawberries super scrappy!!  There are so many fun lines represented in these 4 strawberries ;)

When it came time to quilt this I decided I wanted to do something fun in the middle of the table topper.  I used a compass to draw this fun little flower design and then filled in the rest of the background with cute Curly Q's.  I think they look like the vines that strawberries grow on.  So fun!!

And then to bind it, I used some binding bits left over from other projects.  I had never done binding on an angle that wasn't 90 degrees before so I was kind of making it up as I went, but it actually came out great, and I only had one corner that gave me a little issue.  Not to shabby ;)

And so now I can just enjoy this adorable Scrappy Strawberry Table Topper on my table.  I need to find a cute pink and green bowl to put in the center of it and fill it with fruits and berries ;)  Adorable!!

So, if you haven't checked out Farm Girl Vintage yet, go for it!!!.   It is 45 blocks of so, so, so much fun!!!!    And when you make your blocks, be sure to share them on social media with #farmgirlfridays.  I can't wait to see what you make up ;)

Have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!

  2. Hi Melissa,
These is something "settling" about this lovely little topper. I think it just says, "a summer spent at home." Quilts speak to me, you know.

  5. When I look at this block, besides it being adorable, it makese think of a mine craft quilt my grandson wants, using pinks, greens, Browns, and other colors. I love how you placed the fabrics. I have this book but have not started. I would love this pattern you made. I hope it's in the book. Thank you for sharing this block.

  14. Delightful work! Love the block, the quilting, the whole design! My table toppers are always square (or rectangle) but I really like the shape of yours - is doing the binding difficult though?

  16. I have looked through my Farm Girl book many times but have not made a block yet. I have enjoyed looking at all of the projects others have made. Your table topper is great, it would be fun to add a pretty bowl to your table.
