Two Times the Charm

Yippee, I got my two quilt tops finished!!!  Remember yesterday how I said I had to put these on the back burner for a while to finish a secret project . . .well they came off the burner and the quilt tops are done!!!  And I am so very excited with just how fun they are!!

I mentioned this backstory a bit ago, but in case you missed it, I decided to make my Charm Bracelet Pattern (from my book, Irish Chain Quilts) for a good friend who just had a sweet baby boy.  I went to my fabric stash and instantly grabbed my Reel Time Layer Cake by Zen Chic for Moda.   I  quickly realized that I had the perfect amount of fabric for two quilts and that the fabrics seemed to divide pretty perfectly into "low volume" and "high volume" prints.  So ya, like bunnies, my baby boy quilt turned into two baby boy quilts ;)

Don't you love how the "High Volume" quilt (for lack of a better term) just pops!!  All of those fun colors just dance across the quilt top ;)  And it is pretty perfect for the Season, don't you think ;)

And the Low Volume quilt is equally fun but in the exact opposite way.  I love how subtle it is, just makes you want to curl a little one up in it for a nap.   So fun!!!

Now I just have to quilt them up and then the hard part . . . deciding which one to give away.  I love them both and so it is going to be super hard to choose.   Which one do you like best??

I hope you have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up these finished quilt tops to Amanda's and Sarah's ;)

  1. I would have to choose the bright high volume one, only because I prefer bright for babies. But the low volume one is a spectacular color choice. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful creative day!

  2. So hard to choose! But I think I'd pick the high volume one for a baby boy. Both are so cute!

  3. I would use one for the top and the other for the backing! I think it would be awesome!

  6. What lovely quilts. I like Material Girl's suggestion - wow what a stunning quilt that would be with both these as top and backing.

  7. Oh, they're both great, it's a difficult decision, but the starkness of clean white for a baby speaks to me. Now you're ready for the next time a friend has a baby.

  10. both are fun quilts!! I think that a child would like the one with the white background though: more contrast. Hugs, H

  11. Both quilts are absolutely lovely. Choosing which quilt to gift and which to keep is always a difficult decision. I think that gifting both to the same family would be something special. The low volume quilt has a vintage feel and would be perfect for a baby. The high volume quilt has a more modern look and would be perfect for the mother for when she needs a nap, or for on those long late night feedings or sitting with a sick child. Either way, a gift of your quilt will be treasured for years and years.
