I was tickled pink when the gals at Fat Quarter Shop asked me if I wanted to make 1 of the 20 amazing quilts from Fat Quarter Baby, and I was totally touched when they asked me to make Emma :)
I just love making Baby Quilts and this is such a fun quilt to make!!! All you need is a few Fat Quarters and you are ready to go ;) I used some of my favorite prints from Heather Bailey's True Colors collection. The colors and prints are just perfect for an adorable baby girl quilt ;)
I changed up my quilt just a bit from the original Emma quilt, because I wanted the butterflies to look like they were flying ;) So I added an extra background border on each of the blocks and then trimmed the blocks down on an angle. I just love the extra bit of movement it gives the quilt ;)
And when it came time to quilt I had so much fun!!! I did some ribbon candy quilting for the body of the butterfly and attempted to do a little antenna, there hard to see but they are there ;) Then on the wings I did a little scallow to match the print of the fabric and quilted back and forth lines in the negative space of the scallops ;)
Then in the background, I quilted what is quickly becoming my favorite filler ;) Lots of little tiny swirls, paisleys, curls, and pebbles. I just love how much movement in creates and it just flows so beautifully ;)
And of course, it creates all kinds of super yummy texture! I might have spent a few minutes just running my hand over the top of this quilt when it was done :)
And that is Emma!!! I was hoping this was going to be for my Sister-In-Law who is expecting, but we found out a few days ago that it's a boy ;) So I guess that means Emma will have to wait for a special little girl and I get to pick out another fun Boy quilt from Fat Quarter Baby to make ;)
