Breaking Open Bundles

I am starting some new projects today and Breaking Open a few Bundles!!!!  I am super excited to have a plan for my Grand Canal Fat Quarter Bundle by Kate Spain that I picked up at Market during Sample Spree!!!  Aren't the colors just gorgeous!!!  You know I am head over heels for those purples :)

And then I am starting another little "secret project" using 3 stunning bundles of fabric goodness!!  I am mixing Sundrops from Corey Yoder, Chestnut Street from Fig Tree Quilts and the blacks, browns, and greens from Olives Flower Market by Vanessa Goertzen.   EEEkk, I am so excited to see this one come together ;)

And this leads me to the question that I had after pulling these off the shelf . . . Does anyone else have a bit of a hard time "Breaking Open" a bundle??  I just love to see them sitting on a shelf and admire the colors and prints.  And even though I know exactly what I plan to do with these bundles, I still had to take a second before breaking them open and enjoy the beauty of all the prints together ;)

But, With that said, the second I get the ribbon off, I am pressing away and can't wait to cut it up and create something new.    So how about you . . . How do you Break your Bundles open??

  1. I like to get my bundles open right away and iron out those folds. I roll them up till I get to sew with them.

  2. As slowly as possible. Waiting until the very last minute. Until then they are eye candy to appease my appetite for more fabric.

  3. When I open a bundle, I first iron the twill tape and roll it up. Weird, but I love my very little pile. I always have plans for my bundles, so they don't stay on display too long

  4. Mmm. Those are some gorgeous bundles. I can't wait to see what you do with them!
If I had as much time for sewing as I wish I had, I'd be breaking open these bad boys left and right with reckless abandon. Mine mostly sit on the shelf being admired because I simply can't muster up the time to get everything done! 😂

  9. As far as opening my bundles, what can I say?

    I. Just. Can't.

They're just too pretty!! And worst of all, I'm so far behind on sewing, I won't EVEN confess as to how many precuts I have. It's a number bordering the size of the Empire State Building! ACK!!

    But you gotta love 'em!!

  10. After I ogle the bundles for eternity, i pull out my favorite's while the ribbon is still attached. Ogle some more and start to visualize and jot down notes for which project it's going into. THe coordinating ones finally get set free after I've cut my favorite into it's intended block, bag, bag,

  11. Since I usually buy yardage because it's less expensive, I only have a few bundles that got recently. But I am stalling on breaking them open until I decide what I will do with them. They look so neat and pretty just like they are. It's going to take a special project for me to actually use them. I also have a dilemma in that I always pre-wash my fabrics - always. Do I dare mix them together? What if the colors run?

  13. The visual delight I get from looking at my bundles makes it tough to even think of breaking up the set. I don't have that many. A few I have purchased with a project in mind, but some I buy because I love the fabric. Truth be told, there are so many collections to love. I have a lot of catching up(fabric bundle buying) to do.

  14. I would have NO qualms about opening and using them... if only I could think of what to DO with them... I wish I had a better idea of what to do with a FQ bundle of say... 18. I have one now that I'd love to turn into a gorgeous quilt, if only I could find or think of one that I like.

  15. I have never had a bundle of fabric O_O for real
I have had a jelly roll, and a charm pack :-D
This stack of fabric looks so pretty. I would have to finish up some projects and then, I would search for the perfect quilt and get started!
    Have FUN

  16. I have a hard time opening the different pre-cuts, too. They are just so pretty all together, especially the jelly rolls. I like to leave them all together as long as possible. Then when I do open them I go slowly and really look over each piece.

  17. Like you I love to see them on the shelf and have a hard time breaking them open...always have trouble finding the perfect quilt pattern too! Sew they sit on the shelf longer... LOL

  18. Can't wait to see what you're gonna turn those bundles into!
I do the same, I just let the bundles sit and look at them for a long time until I find a perfect project to use them :P

  19. I hate breaking them open too! :-) If I want to see one of the prints better, or maybe only need to use a few pieces, I'll carefully sliiiide the piece out so as not to disturb the rest of the bundle! :-) Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves! Those are all on my "must get" list for when they come out!! Good taste! ;-)

  20. It is really hard for me to open bundles too! I love getting scrap bags when I can find them because they give me "permission" to use them and I can let the bundles remain intact! Can't wait to see your project!

  21. I feel the same way about breaking open bundles. I put the newest pack on my desk at work so I can look at it.
